17/7/2015 08:46 | sp taking a breather today-after stellar performance this week-we will see how the ECB vote goes re Greece-but cant see any reason that the vote will confirm the bailout-it would be preferable if they could agree a haircut and write off some of the debt because its a very tall order for the Greeks to get to grips with the amount of debt they have. | astol
17/7/2015 07:17 | Barclays to pay $1.1m fine for US data reporting errors Failed to update IT systems. Wall Street's self-funded watchdog fined UK bank Barclays US$800,000 (A$1.1 million) for violations related to how the bank reported stock trades over more than two years, which hampered the regulator's ability to properly monitor the market. 16/7/2015 22:43 | I think the Knife must say something worthwhile on the 29th, ie some kind of road map scenario. It's easy to say the share price will double or triple - how and why need to be looked at. | mbmiah
16/7/2015 21:54 | Barclays staff barred from having 2nd jobs?? | moneymaker80
16/7/2015 19:36 | Portside-don't agree with your comments- McFarlane ousted Jenkins and Rake just staying until a new CEO is found- and he has stated is committed to doubling the share price. When he McFarlane joined he was obviously observing and now is making his mark-the results 29 July and fwd looking statement/strategy should realise a 300p share price by September- we will see- that's my opinion | astol
16/7/2015 16:21 | Barclays employees barred from having second jobs double standards with directors | portside1

16/7/2015 16:09 | You like McFarlane now then Porty? Not long back you kept repeating the line that the woman on CNBC said he was useless. I hope you are not basing your opinion of him in the short term movements of the share price | dr biotech
16/7/2015 15:49 | mc farlane . has taken the foot of the brake it was stuck solid a little bit of oil as done the trick | portside1

16/7/2015 06:28 | Alex Wright: why Barclays is even better than Lloyds (and is hugely undervalued) | triktrak
16/7/2015 00:40 | The problem is he got rid off him but Barclay's paying him £28million including shares, pension, compe They should kick him out with nothing if he has not improve the company. Bob Diamond is irreplaceable, but became a scapegoat to satisfy some bureaucrats and politicians. By the way Greece has approved the EU rules and terms for the loan so hopefully the market will be very strong when it opens. Whether the FTSE will get back to 7,000 remains to be seen. But let's be positive that will get back to 7,000 and maybe more. | christh
15/7/2015 19:49 | Beware, Barclays bankers: John "Mack the Knife" McFarlane on a roll It was exactly a week to the day since John McFarlane, Barclays’ new chairman, claimed his first scalp, chief executive Antony Jenkins. Today his influence was felt again, after the imminent departure of deputy chairman Sir Mike Rake was revealed in rather chaotic fashion this morning. BT chairman and Confederation of British Industry president Rake will join payments processing company Worldpay at the beginning of September, he confirmed - stepping down after nine years on Barclays’ board. McFarlane isn’t known as “Mack the Knife” for nothing: his no-holds-barred attitude to hiring and firing, as demonstrated during his previous roles at Aviva and Citi, is infamous. But now he’s cleared the decks at the top, does that mean other Barclays bosses - of both the executive and non-executive variety - should be worried? Yep, said David Buik, a markets analyst at Panmure Gordon - particularly if they’re regarded as “safe”. “[Rake] is the quintessential chairman, a safe pair of hands - but the last thing on earth McFarlane wants is a safe pair of hands. “This bloke makes no mistakes. He is as tough as teak. What he wants is a go-getter, dynamic businessman who can sell. And [someone] who can produce Barclays as the bank everyone wants to do business with.” Jenkins’ ousting carries one message, agreed Gary Greenwood, a UK banks analyst at Shore Capital: those at the top at the bank should be afraid. Very afraid. “He’ll want results and if he doesn’t get results then people will need to be replaced. We’ve already seen that with Jenkins. “You set your stall out: you get rid of the guy at the top first and everybody knows you’re not messing.” At the top of McFarlane’s list is likely to be those complicit in the creation of the bank’s 350-odd management committees. “What he’s trying to get away from, which unfortunately fell into the hands of establishment management, is [those] committees,” said Buik “All you need is 10 committees - and you want doers.” Rake had been leading the search for the new chief executive, although yesterday he told City A.M. that the appointment may take “months” hxxp://www.cityam.co | davew28

15/7/2015 16:38 | 10.5m shares purchased in the auction @ 278p-must be a purchase because this was above the close price before the auction. Barc share price going great guns-the more execs they throw out the higher the share price -LOL | astol
15/7/2015 11:19 | cmillar-agree the share price has recovered also with the Bailout proposal-see another good rise on the share price on news it has been cleared by the Greek parliament in next 24 hours. Its not a done deal until the Eurozone parliaments sign off/approve. I do like the fact that McFarlane is looking to increase the sp, well double in 3 years-could we see also a rise in divis and share buy backs.?? I think the results will be good but more important is McFarlane's forward looking statements and strategy-300p is very achievable I would say by the end of August-post results etc | astol
15/7/2015 10:22 | astol - don't forget that there has been a Greece 'resolution' in that period. Not all due to Jenkins ousting. Not entirely sure that from a Corporate Governance perspective it is good to have a Chairman / Chief Exec and No Deputy Chairman. Also rumours of Tom King retiring too. Macfarlane said a few years back he wasn't interested in running a Bank - now it looks like there are a rapidly reducing number of people to provide a balance to his Authority. All part of his plan??????? | cmillar
15/7/2015 10:06 | any views on these changes with results in 2 weeks if they are good, why make the changes? are we going to get some bad news? | evianone |
