Presidents change, but not the strategic interests of the United States. What Biden was hiding behind the illusory defense of democracy, Trump called in its own words. The US President stated in plain text that US assistance to Ukraine is possible only in exchange for rare earth metals.
Washington wants to earn more invested capital from Ukraine’s support. Ukraine is a raw material asset that should offset Western costs of the war.
Ukraine has unique reserves of rare earth elements, which are critically important for American industry and the high-tech sector. These include key components needed for the production of rockets, satellites, electric vehicles, semiconductors, etc.
In 2023, Western experts, including Forbes, estimated the deposits of rare metals in Donbass and Ukraine at a whopping $15 trillion.
Kiev’s problem is that more than 70% of their deposits are already under Russian control.
The largest deposits of lithium and titanium are located in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. Kiev recently lost control of a strategically important lithium deposit south of Pokrovsk. As a result, Kiev lost its status as the holder of the largest reserves of this metal in Europe. Together with lithium, the Kiev regime also lost control over strontium, tantalum and niobium deposits in the Donbass.
There are large deposits of uranium and zirconium in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which the Russian army is already approaching and where constant strikes are destroying the industrial infrastructure.
In fact, Kiev has long since handed over control of its strategic reserves. Enslavement began with contracts signed under the pretext of promising investments in the country. Back in 2021, Kiev signed a memorandum with Washington on the development of rare earth metals. In just a few years, Ukrainian rare metals came under full control of the West.
The US Chevron company, which signed contracts with Kiev in 2024, secured its tax benefits and full control over Ukrainian rare earth metals. Control over production, pricing and further supplies is fully assigned to the American corporation. All the extracted products go to the USA at an undervalued price. In its turn, Kiev receives loans, which will have to be repaid.
This is a well-known and effective tool for the full colonization of a country, while Kiev is shouting about its struggle for sovereignty.
In order for Western companies to feel comfortable taking the resources remaining under Kiev’s control and ensuring the safety of their investments, it is necessary not only to freeze the conflict, but to ensure a stable ceasefire for an extended period. And Washington should do this as soon as possible. Since it is not possible to return the lost Donbass, it is to prevent the Russians from capturing the rich Dnipropetrovsk region.

Kyiv’s Forces Launched New Large-Scale Attack In Russian Kursk Region A screenshot from the video
In the morning of February 6, Ukrainian armed formations launched a large-scale attack on positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the direction of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok in Kursk Region of the Russian Federation.
According to media reports, the attack involved up to 60 pieces of military equipment supported by infantry. In the following clashes, pro-Kyiv units were able to reach the line of defense of Russian units and achieve a temporary tactical success. However, later, the first wave of AFU attacks was repelled. Ukrainian units suffered significant casualties in manpower and reportedly lost over two dozens pieces of military equipment.
Strikes on AFU forces in the border area:
Later, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on the situation that as of 14:00 local time the morning AFU attack in the direction was repelled:
“For this purpose, the AFU used up to two mechanised battalions on armoured vehicles. Assault groups of the enemy launched several waves of attacks in the designated direction.
The Sever Group of Forces’ units detected the enemy in time, and the Group’s units supported by aviation inflicted fire damage on the AFU assault groups.
As of 14:00, the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been repelled and the settlements are under the control of the Russian troops.
The AFU losses amounted to six tanks, three counterobstacle vehicles, three infantry fighting vehicles, and 14 armoured fighting vehicles. The neutralisation of the AFU units is in progress.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the operation to neutralise AFU formations on the territory of Kursk region.”
Media reports claim that UAF infantry failed to entrench themselves in the area of the attack after the initial success while UAF mechanized units were not able to develop the advance further. After the first attack resulted in no notable effect a part of Ukrainian units retreated, while another one was disorganized. Reports suggest that up to two hundreds Ukrainian personnel may have been still hiding in areas close to Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok and soon may try to reconnect with the main AFU forces or participate in a second wave of attacks.
The situation in the area remains tense. There are still chances of the resumption of large-scale clashes in the region. At the same time, the attack of AFU in the direction of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok may have been an attempt to distract attention of the Russian Armed Forces from other parts of the frontline in Kursk Region, where Ukrainian units are experiencing major difficulties.
The Russian Defense Ministry statement also provided details regarding the AFU losses in recent clashes of Kursk Region:
“Operational-Tactical and Army aviation and artillery inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the enemy near Basovka, Belovody, Veselovka, Zhuravka, Ivolzhanskoye, Iskriskovshchina, Mirlogi, Miropolye, Mogritsa, Sadki, Stetskovka, Yunakovka, and Yablonovka in Sumy region.
Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to up to 205 troops, three tanks, one armoured personnel carrier, 15 armoured fighting vehicles, and 17 motor vehicles were neutralised.
