London, Sept. 29, 2011 - Banco Santander_ Chief Executive Alfredo Sáenz said that "over the next three years, we will see a gradual normalization" of the _bank's profit, which will lead to an improvement in return on equity of between 3 and 6 percentage points.


"With our solid business model and a great effort from all our units, it is within our reach to return to levels of ROE of 12-14%," he added

La prima de riesgo española, el diferencial entre el bono español a diez años y el alemán del mismo plazo, bajó hoy al cierre del mercado hasta los 330 puntos básicos, desde los 349 que marcó en la apertura. Según los datos de mercado recogidos por Efe, el rendimiento del bono español a diez años se situaba al cierre de la sesión en el 5,129 %, frente al 5,198 % del inicio, en tanto que su homólogo alemán cerró en el 1,825 %.

large countries )italy and SPain) could cut pensions big way to avoid default, after all spain and italy have much better public pensions than the UK, and Spain have a system that currently is in the money, they could use that large pot of money to cut debt too.
and look how santander close in NYSE last friday! they have bought another polish bank (2+ billion euros, hey this is not pocket money)

and how much have the spanish banks cut the value of those ssets as land and property if after two years they cant not be sold? at least 50% if I remember correctly, so that is already disccounted, teh Spanish Central Bank has one of the most honerous regulations in the whole world.
