Hello, I have just set up a Bitcoin wallet using my Leger Nano S.

Would someone be kind enough to transfer me a small amount of BTC, even if its not worth trading just so I know my Leger wallet is actually working. I understand no one in their right mind would give away their BTC but I am hoping someone is kind enough to help me figure this out.

my BTC Address is;
3CcS8U5jsvh39dTwGmzys5rxsYj6CrPijV

Thank you in advance and feel free to PM if that helps.

Posted on the "Gold" thread yesterday.....

excellance 6 Jan '18 - 01:57 - 201075 of 201092

Imagine a world where all government and corporate debt was held in dollars pounds and euros, but the world leaders have brought the fiat system to breaking point, so, they devise a new controlled and efficient monetary system, but each unit needs to be bought with the existing fiat notes.
What would happen to the relative values of those fiat currencies, the new units, and the debt?

Let's say that the world's banks and corporations were transferring into botcoin over a couple of years. The value of botcoins would dramatically and exponentially increase, the value of pounds, dollars and euros would fall, the debt expressed in fiat would remain the same but be wiped out by the relative value of botcoins, but assets like houses, land, equities, could all now be valued in bots.
Perfect.

Compound up retailers dont wait for a visa payments to clear and neither do they have to wait for a block to be mined. Unless it is a large amount the chances of fraud after a transaction has been broadcast are very very very very tiny.

The USD is backed by the US government and its large military. The currency may suffer high inflation from here, but I can't see it properly crashing.

Many people suggest the USD will crash.
If the USD becomes worthless, how much will Bitcoin be worth ?

Bitcoin Cash can never fulfil Satoshi's White Paper headline property of peer-to-peer cash because you will always have to wait for a block to be mined - and that's if you trust the party you are transacting with. If it's a stranger you are dealing with or it's a large transaction you will need to wait for a number of confirmations to be sure. No second layer solutions are possible with Bitcoin Cash because that would be tantamount to acceptance that Bitcoin developers were right all along.

The only good Jihan Wu and Roger Ver have done in creating this distraction is to give out free money while issuing a centralised altcoin for their own short term benefit. They deliberately sought to confuse the man in the street by not changing the addressing and by passing off their altcoin as the real thing when consensus (remember that principle?) had just come down in favour of the original Bitcoin's move to SegWit.

For the benefit of the ecosystem Bitcoin Cash should have been cancelled on the eve of it's launch as was 2X. Then we might be seeing better than the current level of SegWit adoption, much higher than the ~10pc that it is now. Coinbase, BitPay and Blockchain.info are going to suffer on account of their continued prevarication* over SegWit adoption as customers vote against high fees by removing their accounts to wallets/exchanges whose developers keep up and thereby offer considerably lower transaction fees. (* is it prevarication or incompetence?)

First and foremost the content of Satoshi's White Paper delivered the first really sound solution to the trust issue. The other principles of peer-to-peer cash and decentralisation can only be solved by Bitcoin (and other alts that currently use SegWit and LN). Bitcoin Cash has de-facto denied itself the ability to transact instantly even though it copied large parts of Bitcoin's software to try to give itself a leg-up.

Supporters of Bitcoin Cash bang on about low fees. At it's current scale of about 26000 transactions per 24 hours, Bitcoin Cash transaction fees are higher than they were when Bitcoin was at that level of liquidity several years ago.

If nothing else does, scaling issues will eventually kill Bitcoin Cash off; not just the big blocks but the inability to store the bloated blockchain by anyone other than the miners - which fails the decentralisation objective of a certain white paper IIRC.

just reading another classic novice investor misunderstanding about money having to move from one coin to another, it doesnt, it can simply disappear as quick as it appeared, usually quicker

if you believe in charting (an art not a science and only as good as the practitioner) btc has a channel roof about 17500 :P

good lord lol i hate to say it but next levels i have are 21000 and 22222 :O
if a loaf of bread on amazon has haywire algos send it to $200,000 is it a ferrari california? No ;)

ETH is 1050 which its kinda toyed with

spuds lol we can only judge ppl on here based on their posts on here and ive misstakingly assumed you had basic maths down but 20c of 4.50 would be 4.4% not 20%, which is still a ridiculous margin of error for 'trading', but no ones trading xrp and its all relative isnt it, my price levels have proven far from random but we'll ignore whats actually happened with the prices and focus on subjective tech commentary and gossip, we've established thats the preference for the crowd here, on the losers futures markets its a 0.1% margin of error

only "Utility and scarcity" yeah right mate lol chuck up a grpah of btc or xrp or FTSE or copper or TNX or eurusd and annotate the hi/lo turns to demonstrate where utility and scarcity dramatically changed ;)

The 'best' fork from Bitcoin can always be repeated.

Gold is scarce but doesn't have much utility.

But I agree, time will tell.

Bitcoin was designed to fork, so may the best fork win. But I have to say the title of the Bitcoin white paper was "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System"

Right there in the very first sentence, keep to that and it all makes sense.

Time will tell.

The Bitcoin White Paper - yes a while ago.

I know that the Bitcoin mempool is a massive bottleneck and goes against the idea of quick and cheap transactions, but in 2018 there are many better alt-coins than Bitcoin or even Bitcoin Cash to transact in.

These days the major interest of investors appears to be in the speculative value of a coin rather than its utility to transact.

Part of me thinks that the whole lot including Bitcoin is worthless. But I keep thinking that if I was after a digital gold replacement then if there is only one to choose then Bitcoin is it.

(Sadly I don't hold any Bitcoin Cash so I could be justifying myself! lol)

What is the point of posting random strings of numbers in both higher and lower directions of current prices. Then having a caveat of a +-20% error?

Some people.
