12/8/2004 10:33 | Richgit Thanks for your excellent posting. The housing boom is, of course, entirely manipulated by a huge increase in the money supply directed to this market. Inflation is purely a monetary phenomonen. The government and lenders know this; it is done intentionally to create debt slaves or relieve us of our homes when the money supply is tightened and interest rates rise. When it happens (and it will) our controlled press will no doubt be able to blame it on some external factor that will conveniently emerge. Don't blame Tony Blair, that's exactly what 'they' want. Like all politicians he is just a stooge and an actor. It would have made no difference which party or leader was in power as they are all controlled by the same hidden hand. TB attended the Bilderberg meeting back in 1993 before he even became party leader. Attendees include members of both major parties as well as Democrats and Republicans from the US (and Ken Lay of Enron infamy). Our democracy (and everybody else's)is basically a sham and always has been; it simply allows us to let off steam by blaming the incumbent leader and party and then make us think we have made a real change by voting in the 'opposition'. In reality the agenda never changes. What does all this 'conspiracy theory' have to do with AVM? Well, if you want to have any chance of winning in a rigged casino (which is what our financial markets are) you need to understand what the riggers are up to and how the world really works. IMHO gold has been the subject of a vast conspiracy to suppress the price. It's been done mainly through the gold carry trade where central banks throughout the world 'lease' their gold reserves to bullion banks who then sell into the market thus depressing the price. Look at Kitco and you will see that the lease rate is less than 0.20% pa. This tells you it's a scam - who would take the credit risk of lending for such a meagre return? Who is buying the gold and how can it ever be returned without forcing up the price by hundreds of dollars per ounce? The answer is probably that knowledgeable insiders are buying before the fiat dollar based financial system collapses. The U.S. is now the biggest debtor nation in history. It's success has in large part been due to the USD being the world's reserve currency. Essentially, the world produces real goods and the US buys them with unbacked freshly printed paper money. No other country has this advantage. Printing money is inflationary but this has been avoided by foreign CBs (mainly China and Japan) holding dollars as 'reserves'. But eventually there will be a dollar crisis and at that point a flood of returning paper will swamp the US with hyperinflation. All fiat currencies will be affected, particularly those that have lent or sold their gold. When all this happens (and make no mistake it is all planned) most people will be wiped out except those holding physical gold and.... AVM! PS Remember some years ago when GB sold off tons of our gold at sub $300 prices. It went to an undisclosed buyer. No, it wasn't a mistake. All IMHO and DYOR | jmobrien

11/8/2004 22:18 | Bis, can you tell us: are you short AVM, OXS or Gold, or just a true altruist? FWIW: I am very long all three still, but shaved 1/6 of my gold exposure at 397 and again at 399, will buy back in under 390 if we get there. I recently sold a little AVM (about 1/6 again) after the recent price rise, just to book profits. OXS I am still buying at these levels. | ![]() wolstencroft

11/8/2004 08:03 | from the times. Markets August 11, 2004 Talking points SMALLER STOCK TO WATCH Avocet Mining, the AIM-listed gold producer, ticked up 1¾p to 71½p on raising its stake in Tajikistan's Zeravshan Gold Company from 49 per cent to 75 per cent. The deal followed protracted negotiations with the Government of the former Soviet republic, which holds the remaining 25 per cent. Evolution Beeson Gregory yesterday repeated its 105p price target. | bionicdog
10/8/2004 17:09 | Phillis, Just a hunch really, but what I have in mind as well as modernising plant and equipment is the relatively large number of local employees: AVM wisely avoided lay-offs to cut costs that would not have gone down well with the host government. Now that expansion is underway, will be much easier for AVM to employ people more productively. | ![]() pecker1
10/8/2004 16:48 | Phillis: By "optimised" I assume you mean kept as low as possible. However, I'd have thought that costs would have been kept as high as possible if they were to be used as a negotiating tactic to secure greater equity (eg. "You might as well let us take on another 26%, as it is barely profitable with these costs"). Management have now got a real incentive to reduce costs now. Avocet are continuing their impressive recent record and are making real progress on all operational fronts and will soon become a rare animal indeed - a debt-free mining company. Still holding, still happy. Wal' | wallace morris
10/8/2004 15:28 | May we hope that production costs have not been optimised as a negotiating tactic? | ![]() phillis
10/8/2004 13:38 | Seem to detect a new note of confidence in the press release, as though the obstacle that's been holding up the future strategic direction of AVM has now been removed. With 75% ownership, it should open the floodgates to a big exploration push as well as the effort to reduce cash costs. Because AVM will now be a major player and investor, it should give it the flexibility to optimise production. | ![]() pecker1
10/8/2004 10:09 | Excellemt news , very shrewd managment , now they have got what they wanted ( a larger slice of ZGC ) and for nothing they will now start to lavish some real dosh on it now to turn it into the jewel it deserves to be | ![]() budevenwiser
10/8/2004 10:02 | Seems GREAT news to me. Perhaps the analysts and press will wake up to this soon. Today's rise (so far) also signals a chart breakout, which might bring in "technical" buyers. | ![]() saucepan

09/8/2004 13:25 | "Together with greater than expected operating cash flows, this caused year-end cash balances to increase by US$17.6 million to US$23.6 million. The Company also obtained a US$5 million revolving credit facility from Macquarie Bank of Australia which remains undrawn. Therefore, with the Group's total debt at year-end reduced to only US$6.0 million, the Company now has the liquidity to complete not only all existing projects, including new expansion initiatives, .................... I wonder what surprises the management have in store? Having shown their ability to astutely pick up bargains, with all this money sloshing around they have the world at their feet and possibly some predators. | ![]() richgit |
