30/1/2024 13:22 | Since Skyship not around for a while I will have a go.. Prices based on buy price of 10K Shares and not including tax or dealing costs. AV.A - 129.48 (6.76% yield) AV.B - 126.80 (6.60% yield) GACA - 126.24 (7.03% yield) GACB - 118.05 (6.67% yield) As usual GACA appear best bet, but also consider that they don't go ex-div until June. Cheers CRT | crt131
29/11/2023 11:16 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 131.65p-133.3p = 6.56% # AV.B 8.375% @ 121.25p-123.5p = 6.78% # GACA 8.875% @ 124.0p-125.5p = 7.07% # GACB 7.875% @ 112.0p-114.0p = 6.91% AV.A & GACA both go XD tomorrow (30/11/23) | skyship
06/10/2023 13:01 | Should Aviva be taken over then what could I reasonably expect for my AV.B holdings? Would they be bought at a premium too? | misterd1
04/9/2023 21:41 | Nice rise today ahead of ex-div on Thursday 7/9 (paid 30/9). Going to look cheap when interest rates recede as they surely must. | yf23_1
19/7/2023 22:10 | 113/117 Still cheap as chips (not the ones that come from a chippy, obviously). | yf23_1
13/7/2023 22:57 | Looks like we might have reached a bottom. Mid is actually 112 not the stupid 113 UT . 109/113 -> 111/113. Would be nice to see the offer move up now. | yf23_1
20/6/2023 10:38 | SKYSHIP any chance you could include STAB and STAC in your posts, per 327, showing the yield comparisons. Many thanks. | neilyb675
20/6/2023 10:21 | I don't think so, they're fixed return. | cassini
20/6/2023 10:14 | I'm new to preference shares and I have a question. Do preference share holders benefit from special dividends. Thanks in advance. | orchestralis
15/6/2023 15:35 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 121.0p-121.84p = 7.18% # AV.B 8.375% @ 113.0p-116.0p = 7.22% # GACA 8.875% @ 113.15p-114.25p = 7.77% # GACB 7.875% @ 103.7p-104.5p = 7.54% Being hit by the continuing rise in interest rates. The GA prefs again the best value. | skyship
24/4/2023 07:16 | Whilst it may be of no ultimate consequence an Aviva corp action involves a reduction in Capital , various thoughts on Lemon as to why , however as I feel inclined not to trust any of them any more am voting against , prefs carry a four to one vote ratio . | holts
22/4/2023 09:31 | Campervanman - enlighten me - just why do you rely on your bank to handle your investments? For instance, can you reveal what commission you paid on your last transaction there? | skyship
20/4/2023 19:45 | There’s nothing smart about Barclays Smartinvestor. They are absolutely useless. I moved all my family’s ISA’s and my SIPP from Barclays to Hargreaves Lansdowne about 6 years ago. All my dividends are credited to our accounts on the day they are payed by the companies. Any problems are dealt with by HL expeditiously and phone calls are answered very quickly. | jam62
11/4/2023 15:25 | Still not been paid, on the phone to them now. "we've got 10 days from when we receive the funds". and how do we know when they receive the funds ???? | yf23_1
06/4/2023 21:54 | Their divi info is also wrong when you click on the holding, they need to sack the 3rd party data provider or the persons who update. | yf23_1
06/4/2023 18:18 | Exactly same problem with Barclays. Also received GACB but not AV.B .Spoke to Barclays this morning. Said they would ring back today but heard nothing. This seems to becoming a regular occurrence with them.Dividend was due a week ago. | campervanman
06/4/2023 18:02 | Still not received my divi for AV.B on Barclays Smartinvestor. GACB divi received. Anyone else got this problem ? | yf23_1
14/3/2023 11:55 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 127.8p-128.5p = 6.81% # AV.B 8.375% @ 120.4p-121.4p = 6.90% # GACA 8.875% @ 122.5p-124.5p = 7.13% # GACB 7.875% @ 108.0p-109.0p = 7.22% As we all know, prefs are equity; but they never moved like equity. Nowadays, prefs are no longer a BUY & HOLD; they are a trade! | skyship
03/2/2023 09:47 | Yields at offer prices: # AV.A 8.75% @ 136.0p-140.25p = 6.24% # AV.B 8.375% @ 126.0p-130.8p = 6.40% # GACA 8.875% @ 130.1p-130.95p = 6.78% # GACB 7.875% @ 115.0p-117.4p = 6.71% With AV.B & GACB the next to go XD, seems to me that AV.A are over-priced; and the best value has to be GACB. | skyship
02/2/2023 20:53 | AV.A over-valued rather than AV.B under-valued. Why? Because GACA on offer at 131p for a 6.77% yield. Perhaps I'll do my usual comparative post of all 4 tomorrow... | skyship
02/2/2023 14:32 | Slightly ridiculous, AV.A at 137/141 and this at 125/129 with the divi due in Mar (worth another 2p diff). I guess its because the IC quoted AV.A in their yearly tips. | yf23_1
12/1/2023 09:41 | Skyship, yes I hold NBPS and have been buying more with surplus funds as I consider this a good home for cash over the medium term, and will continue to buy as long as the GRY remains around 5% or above. It compares favourably imo with a fixed term deposit as it's probably about as secure a Pref as you could find. | redhill9
12/1/2023 09:37 | hindsight, agreed although rather different circumstances. I'm no fan of Lloyds and, like many other of their Pref holders, didn't want their coercive cancellation of certain of the issue to occur but the difference was that the Lloyds Prefs that were cancelled received a not unreasonable result - I recall making substantial gains on my LLPF and LLPG Prefs - whereas Aviva announced they were considering a coercive cancelation of their Prefs at par of 100p when from memory the various issues were then trading, depending on individual coupon, at c.40% above that. | redhill9 |
