Avanti Communications (AVN) Bidders NAMED EchoStar, Intelsat AND Solus, which is the main creditor of Avanti, is also the largest shareholder of Intelsat


Among the potential buyers of the British company referred to a number of companies, including the American satellite company of EchoStar, which is under the control of American billionaire Charlie Erdzhina and company Intelsat. Company Solus, which is the main creditor of Avanti, is also the largest shareholder of Intelsat. Local competitor of the company – Inmarsat – refused to fight for the asset by examining its business.
Other players of the satellite sector argue that the price war in the market initiated to provoke chaos in the background growth of the major players, however, predict that consolidation is almost inevitable in the case of saving the situation with low prices. “The phase of consolidation is inevitable, however, based on the capital value rather than exchange trading,” – said one of the top managers, adding that the collapse in pricing power strengthens companies that are not represented on the stock exchange, and financial buyers. “Representatives of private companies must be rubbing their hands with joy, – says the source.
Wilton Fry, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets, says that Inmarsat could be vulnerable to of EchoStar, but the company recently took a loan of 400 million dollars, which many see as its “strategic reserves”. The RBC argued that a combination of regional and global operators, as is the case with shallow EchoStar / Inmarsat global network can help solve the puzzle. It will also prepare the company to becoming a significant player in the 5G sector and expand the proportion of the spectrum considerably.
