10/2/2014 12:01 | Well Jadetic, there are quite a few smaller contracts that go under the radar so to speak too. We just don't get to know about them, unless you read the small print in the results or trawl the web. One such example would be this contract with Balkans Telekom that only showed up a couple of days ago. Balkans Telekom is just too small to warrant an official announcement though or for that matter to normally bother posting about. This contrasts with the Hermes contract, which is probably a 7 figure contract and could well be extended to other key markets, Libya and Algeria where Hermes also have a notable presence. We will need to read the results in a few days quite carefully before we really know what's happening. But as I said a few weeks back, I am actually quietly confident things are on the up at long last! | jojaken
10/2/2014 11:43 | Good news for sure, but still tight-lipped re value of such contracts. | jadeticl3
10/2/2014 10:43 | "New contract marks Hermes' first foray into Ka-band satellite" Presumably that includes to the likes of such clients as BP in Iraq. | jojaken

04/2/2014 17:44 | Certainly looks like it leading up to results. Will we see rise to 260p resistance levels again. On good results and outlook can see that level being broken and the 350p to 400p levels attacked again. | ttny2004

31/1/2014 08:01 | Announcement that Globecomm Systems to use Hylas 2 in South Africa. hxxp://avantiplc.com Also talk in the announcement of extending beyond SA later in the year. Unfortunately little in the way of details. As said earlier, Avanti seem to be doing well in South Africa at the moment and this latest announcement seems to be keeping up the momentum. | jojaken
25/1/2014 22:59 | Aye, including me. You can talk about cashflow all you like when you're in the development stage but with 2 sats up there, we'll either see money in the bank or we won't. | jeffian
25/1/2014 22:14 | Interims on 12 Feb will have a big bearing on whether shareholders believe the hype over recent years has been justified. If the results disappoint there will be a big sell off by PIs. | standish11
24/1/2014 16:21 | Disaappointing week here, guess its a case of waiting for some positive results. | gekks
16/1/2014 23:35 | I'd have to agree with Jimbo. There is still so much scepticism about Avant's ability to deliver - and quite justly so in my opinion. I am in the positive camp, but only after doing my own research. However I do feel that a lot of the points that were brought up in a certain blog should have been more thoroughly addressed. However the overriding issue is, can the company make money? Real money. And here at least, in the next set of results, I am fairly confident we can beat expectations. The broker Jefferies has pencilled in £50.0m/£74.1m for FY14e/15e. Back in September, mgmt disclosed that £42m of the current backlog is scheduled to turn into revenue in FY14e and a further £46m in FY15e. Now assuming that those figures can be believed, and they don't include any bad debts, the variety of deals that are being made over the last six months would suggest that we can already make up the difference and I'm sure there are other deals that we just don't know about at this stage. Therefore, being the optimist that I am, I could even stick my neck out and say that the £59.3 in revenue for FY14 is achievable(although we need more deals). This last figure is what Jefferies had originally projected before they downgraded Avanti in September. (Avanti themselves, even after the last set of results, were said to be standing by the £60 they had pencilled in themselves)And if that was achieved you could expect a fairly major rerating of the stock. But it's a huge 'if'! It's all about the next set of results. How credible are the revenues? How is the cellular backhaul developing? (that is almost impossible to research independently) Are other news networks other than CNN using the Hylas sats? Are those contracts that weren't signed last year now signed? So was it truly a case of just timing? What kind of customers were those deals for, were they cellular companies? I could go on and on, you get the picture. However what is clear is that Avanti is clearly doing very well in three particular markets, Libya, South Africa, and to a lesser extent Poland. For example in Libya there have been five major deals announced in the last year(That I can find), four of which were with Avanti and only one with Eutelsat. So clearly they are doing something right, finally! We just have to wait for the results to find out if we have turned the corner. Until then the doubters will prevail I fear. | jojaken
16/1/2014 10:41 | The share price has reflected the "greater optimism" in the past, and expectations have not been met. Possibly, this is why it does not reflect it now. | jimbo55
16/1/2014 09:55 | When we have read all this why is the share price not reflecting the greater optimism? From this low base I would have expected some upward movement. | jadeticl3
15/1/2014 10:13 | Ok, gotcha all, thanks. And yes, I really must be that stupid! | revoman
