Nice to see an rns and the price rise but I am still surprised and disappointed that AVN management didn't think this news was price sensitive enough to warrant a statement. I do not expect this sort of thing to appear first on a bulletin board over a weekend.

not exactly a rush of buyers as the doors open even though the stock is at sale prices.

perhaps we'll have to wait for some instis to digest the latest news and we'll get some real buying after lunch !!!

Excellent news.

just the news we needed. 400p here we come again.

[have you noticed how the share price likes to move between different 50p levels (+ or minus 10p)?]

Could very well be a melt up moment coming.

.........and its no wonder the british government (backed by the yanks of course) say get stuffed............they want HYLAS2 for desert storm 2 starting next year.

Obviously been shorted, could see 700p in quickly imo.

It does Martin :-)

I have just been catching up on the weekends posts and it would appear we have the RNS this morning which confirms everything is well as expected.

Good news all round.

Avanti Communications Group plc
Successful completion of in orbit testing
London - 10 September 2012. Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN, or "Avanti"), the satellite operator, is pleased to announce the successful completion of in orbit testing for its HYLAS 2 satellite.
The testing process confirmed that HYLAS 2 is performing as specified and has more lifetime than planned.
HYLAS 2 is located at the orbital position 31 East. Avanti, via its National Regulator OFCOM, has received the standard confirmation from the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau (which regulates such matters) that its ITU filing for the use of spectrum by HYLAS 2 at 31degE has been accepted and notified in accordance with ITU rules, providing the necessary regulatory basis for the operation of the HYLAS 2 satellite at 31degE.
The commissioning of the IP infrastructure and customer equipment at Avanti's three Gateway Earth Stations is underway.

This "reserving of orbital slots" issue was disscussed at the WRC-12 meeting last February where there was a debate and review which led to the 90day rule being adopted , Avanti had reserved the Hylas2 slot by parking Hylas1 there and transmitting on the Hylas2 frequencies which was common practice at the time ( 12 months before the rule change) so there's no problem there.
The "use it or lose it" issue won't be a problem , Avanti should have had a sat in the Hylas2 slot before the end of May when the slot "timed out" ,the reason for the expiry of slots is to make sure that this finite resource is used efficiently , they don't want slots being held by entities that for whatever reason are not in a position to launch a sat, so when a slot is timed out the owner either has to prove that they have advanced plans to use it or they have to give it up so that someone else can use it , as Hylas2 was already built and being prepared for launch it was very clear that Avanti would be using the slot.
The SES action looks like an industry heavyweight trying to intimidate the new kid on the block ,the slot timed out in May ,if SES thought they had a case they would have taken some action before Hylas2 was launched , i don't think its a coincidence that this has come out when the two companies are in talks to sort out possible interference issues.

AVN need to put out an RNS clarifying the position from their perspective.

Sg31 , couldn`t agree more, massaging figures is easy and bulletproof, publishing false quotes from Co sources is in a different league

I wouldn't call Winni a liar but some of his figures suggesting his tips were fanatastically successful were a little wide of the mark. IMHO

So the advisory body says that SES don't have a case, the UK govt is on AVNs side..and the CEO says its a non issue. If it sells off tomorrow, and it prob. will, I'm having yet more.

The Official comment from Avanti (we swapped emails today): It is not a threat. The ITU formally confirmed our filing and a major competitor has whinged. Shows you how much our spectrum is worth.

So if TW is asked about such an e mail it wont exist.? is that what you are saying?

I take a lot of the tipsters comments with a pinch of salt but then they rarely give quotes from company sources, if he is lying then he really is a fool.

...You might call that an 'Official comment from Avanti' Tom, but I suspect the market will require something with a bit more substance.

I agree.. AVN didn't feel the need to RNS on the claims that they would miss their slot before H2 was launched..this is a only a destraction, but will drag the share price imo

As I say guys

Sounds very much like a storm in a teacup

No need for an rns as just a spurious claim

It beggars belief, given the cost and timescale of getting satellites into orbit, that anyone would proceed to spend £100m's building and launching a satellite on the basis that a competitor might miss a window by a few days. What would SES have been thinking when they commissioned their own satellite (presumably a couple of years ago) in the full knowledge of Avanti's plans? This certainly sounds like sour grapes or maybe a spoiler.

I wouldn't worry about this too much although It is almost certainly the reason why the share price has drifted down for a while. Im sure in the end it will all blow over though and we will start operating in the very near future. As stated previously I think this slot issue is the reason why they partnered with the European Space Agency for H3 as the ESA muscle will be invaluable to secure the slot. H2 is in it's position now and was built before the new 90 day ruling came into effect. If the BOD were genuinely worried it would be denied a licence and that SES would succeed in trying to bully the slot off them they would not have launched it. Here is an article from a while back which demonstrates why H1 took so long to commision and why I believe and have been saying that H2 will not... The reason is obviously the moves between the different orbital slots which were allowable prior to the meeting early this year and the time spent in 61.5E then 31E until finally moving to 33.5W This is why I reckoned in a previous post that if we stay in our position for 90 days before operating it might be due to the new 90 day rule that was implemented at the meeting in feb. It seems highly unlikely now though as the latest article does suggest that Avanti have released the slot at 61.5E now and therefore we will be staying put at 31E IMO. We will not be doing any more orbital dances for slot securing and so we can just get on with operating in our assigned slot which should I hope happen imminently. The British government are being particularily supportive and I can't see them changing their position. The governent is supporting Avanti because it is important for smaller operators to have some slots rather than the big few like SES owning nearly the entire sky. "The U.K. delegation issued a statement at the end of the conference saying that while it applauded the fact that the rules were now more clear, "these new provisions should not be allowed to negatively affect the interests of bona-fide satellite operators which brought into use satellite networks prior to WRC-12 in line with the practice at the time." "This Administration reserves the right to take such action as may be necessary to meet the needs of bona-fide satellite operators which brought into use satellite networks prior to WRC-12," the U.K. delegation statement said." I will not be selling on this latest news and it may even present a buying opportunity if the MM's try to force it down. I would however very much like the BOD to release an RNS monday clarifying the position and feel it would be unreasonable of them not to do so now. Lets hope we start operating shortly!!! Cheers skoob
