A good idea Colva, I have been in and following AVN quite some time now like you have and it has happened plenty of times for no apparent reason.

I've put a buy order in at 352p , just in case we get one of those 1 hour spikes to the downside .

agreed yorgi

very dull to read spats like this

johnc is mainly a chartist and as such doesnt know much about the business - similarly investors like yorgi and i dont know much about the charts

let's leave it there

No way yorgi. And I'm sorry to, but I'm not contacting you directly. You made your comment here so defend it (or embroider on it) here.

You were looking for something to have a go at, you jumped at the opportunity, you had a pop but you'd misunderstood, so now you want to move on.

I think we will have a RNS of progress well before that Rogk......but time will tell.

John,

Whiters has summed it up perfectly. It seems quite clear johnsimpson had not done his homework on AVN.

You twerp yorgi, you're as bad as restassured. Any chance to try and twist the knife. Why did you feel it necessary to do that?

My 'confusion' was over the other John's query, NOT the actual facts of which I am well aware.

This link suggests that testing will be over several weeks as opposed to three months so agree with johncsimpsons earlier post...surprise the market

Oh right.
Just that Yorgi.

I'd never heard that it had been completed. Simple as that.
So that is another part of the jigsaw puzzle in place then.

All the best,
John

What are you expecting to hear John ?

Migration to Hylas 1 has been completed a long time ago to the best of my knowledge.

No not that bit Yorgi. I meant my 2nd paragraph about 'has anyone heard any info regards that migration'.

John

Ha ha, I loved your 2nd paragraph John.
"I ignored this 15 mins ago because I didn't understand it.
Done a quick bit of research and still don't understand it".

But I'm still none the wiser as to whether they have actually finished using hired-in services or not. From what I understood, this would mean that they kept much more of the profit from the contracts on Hylas 1.
I'm aware that this point is a bit old hat, but I'd never seen any update to this, hence my question.

Any thoughts Yorgi (as someone who's much more knowledgeable than myself)?

From 271 above

added - head above parapet again, I'm predicting a bounce.

Just thought I'd better get it 'time-stamped'.

Well, what do you know? HIBU has just gone to 110 bid / 112 offer. Could drop just a touch more looking at my indicators, but let's see what happens next.

Before the launch of Hylas 1 Avanti were renting time on other satellites to satisfy their existing customers. This obviously cost more than utilising their own resource. Avanti announced quite soon after the launch and commissioning of Hylas 1 that they were migrating these customers onto the new satellite.

John,

. . . . Talking of which, am I correct in thinking that they have migrated all the original users onto Hylas 1 and no longer need to hire in other services, which was an additional cost/drain on resources?

I ignored this 15 mins ago because I didn't understand it. Done a quick bit of research and still don't understand it. Where would they migrate customers from?

Hello John,

They specifically said three months on 3 August but 'tactically' you'd announce three and then surprise the markets earlier . . . ( just IHMO, of course).

added: assuming, that is, everything IS ok.

Re the news updates of Sat testing, that is what I understood from the initial info put out around the launch John, that it would take a couple or three months to finish testing systems. I think they are expecting to finish proving trials sooner than they did with Hylas 1

Talking of which, am I correct in thinking that they have migrated all the original users onto Hylas 1 and no longer need to hire in other services, which was an additional cost/drain on resources?

maybe I spoke too soon... we need another RNS to get this a leg up

____________________________

Possibly, but there's only been about ten trades since your earlier post and there were only about ten in total at that time. Most of these last ten have been sells so the price moves back. One or two buys and we'll move forwards again to the same price levels as earlier.

But there still won't be any real volume . . .

No RNS (re testing and contracts likely for weeks) IMO.
