As AVN have paid for a report from Edison - they have a legal duty to be as accurate and realistic as possible. 'Material bias' would surely be illegal. AVN have given realistic accounts and the news flow seems to support that. The shorting campaign of TW and friends is the one that is biased, even if they have the power to drive down the price.

I know who I trust more, and it is not the smash and grab merchants.

KakNife - Oh certainly agree with you - Sorry - I may not have been clear in the implications of my comments above - May be it would have been clearer to have said - Edison seem to have gone overboard to "not our fault" if the objectives on which we have modeled our projections are not met. !!!

May I suggest anyone thinking of buying on the bullish posts re the Edison Research read it fully and in detail - I have rarely seen a reseach note from them with so many caveats !

To point out but some:
* Should - should be - based on the achievement of our growth assumptions
* There are clearly risks involved-- etc etc --All these could delay--
* Given the expectation that pricing should remain stable
* Eutelstat a major competitor ordered a new satellite to be launched in 2019 targetting overlapping region in sub-Saharan Africa ---- "may be regarded as a threat"
*Avanti 2 years from delivering the recurring cash flows required to sustain the business.

etc -etc .

At about a $50mm market cap PI money can become visible in the ebb and flow. That still depends on how much large holders are offloading and still have to offload, and whether small buyers are attracted. Price predictions are tricky. The drop is faster than I would have imagined, and I am negative the prospects of the company.

I'm going to the FT festival of Finance on 1 July and Williams is slated as a speaker. Should be interesting.

Having topped up at £2.20 , my idea of the lowest possible low (at that time) , I have resisted the ridiculous prices we now see. I am not alone - having invested too much in this I am sitting tight and trusting in my original decision from many years ago - DW is in a similar boat though his returns have been more attractive than mine! He invested body and soul more than capital but watching his asset depreciate from a fortune must be blowing his mind.

I understand completely why he has not topped up ..... I think we are both daft .... but time will tell (why do I think of a cross bow?).

Nugacity - poor effort.

Had I taken that bet, I'd have been content to take that loss than take the brutal kicking AVN is giving folk like you.

I'm not the muppet who is watching the losses grow day by day. You're living in blind hope, but you're too daft to realise it.

sphere25 - were you the guy that had 50p (worth £2500) on Leicester to win the Premier League but cashed out at 45p (worth 5p loss) ??????

You have the right mentality to do that!

Looks to be building traction to me S25, massively oversold, and could bounce hugely.

But all in my opinion and do your own research.

P.S. Elrico - thanks for the advice to check my facts. I see ADVFN dropped shareprophets for malpractice.

Nigeria, from Wiki ...

Internet users:

67.0 million users, 8th in the world (2015)
55.9 million users, 8th in the world; 32.9% of the population, 128th in the world (2012)
44.0 million users, 9th in the world (2009)
5.0 million users, 40th in the world (2005)

Fixed broadband: 15,311 subscriptions, 136th in the world; less than 0.05% of the population, 185th in the world (2012)

Wireless broadband: 17.3 million subscriptions, 18th in the world; 10.2% of the population, 91st in the world (2012)

....

0.05% have fixed broadband in a country where 39% of the population uses broadband, i.e. a major demand?

Don't know if Nigerians watch TV , but On Demand TV looks to have a terrific potential for fixed broadband. And who is well positioned to provide it?

I met a Nigerian lass the other night, and she said broadband is popular in her country but much more expensive than in the UK ...... it sounded promising!

AVN)Imarasat Chooses Avanti to Bridge Gap in Broadband Connectivity for Small Businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa
Imarasat Extends Contract with Avanti Communications, with a Focus on Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) Market
Avanti Communications Group plc (“Avanti”; or “the Group”), a leading provider of satellite data communications services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, announces a significant two year contract extension with Imarasat. The contract will enable growth for Imarasat in consumer, SME and enterprise markets across 14 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Imarasat will, in particular, target the significant opportunity that the growing SME market presents in countries, such as Kenya. It is estimated that 1.1 million active Kenyan SMEs contribute 45% to Kenya’s economy1. However, nearly 75% of them do not have access to the Internet and are therefore unable to benefit from the growth and productivity gains that broadband can offer. 32% of SMEs are outside of 3G broadband coverage entirely. These SMEs are perfectly suited to satellite broadband services offered by Imarasat and Avanti.
Imarasat has contracted additional services using both Avanti’s SELECT and CUSTOM products. Avanti’s pre-packaged SELECT product allows Imarasat to provide consumer and SME customers with fast, affordable satellite broadband. Avanti’s guaranteed capacity CUSTOM product is more suitable for enterprise customers. It is enabling Imarasat to more effectively address key verticals, such as financial services, oil and gas, hospitality and agriculture.
Imarasat’s Ka-band satellite broadband service includes a highly differentiated Quality of Service (QoS) feature. It ensures real-time prioritization of mission critical applications for SME and enterprise customers using Imarasat’s packet shaping technology. This is implemented on hubs at Avanti’s Gateway Earth Stations. The technology avoids contention and interrupted business broadband services associated with non-business traffic, such as infotainment and peer to peer file sharing.
Salim Suleman, Managing Director of Imarasat, commented:“Our desire to partner with Avanti is based on the same value proposition that attracted us to its services in the first place. That is, a combination of reliable, high quality satellite broadband delivered as part of flexible product portfolio at a cost-effective price and with zero capital expenditure. This significant contract extension reflects our confidence in Avanti as a strategic partner that can help us grow.”
David Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Avanti, said:“Imarasat requires partners with innovative services that help it to operate competitively and grow. Avanti continues to be one such partner. The significant extension to our high quality, flexible satellite broadband services across Sub-Saharan Africa illustrates the well-established, close relationship between the two companies.”
