INVESTMENT SUMMARY
SES has announced its intention to buy the outstanding 49.5% minority in O3b, the medium earth orbit (MEO) Ka-band high throughput satellite (HTS) constellation. SES is paying $2.6bn in EV (including $1.2bn of 9.5% coupon debt) and is to complete the outstanding $600m capex programme to deploy the fleet. The purchase represents an EV/sales multiple of 26x expected FY16 revenues. The valuation has interesting read across to Avanti as it reflects the value the industry is placing on the newer HTS players. The FY16e Avanti EV/sales multiple is just 6x. Our view remains that as the market recognises the ability of Avanti to execute its plan to reach a highly cash generative phase from mid-2018, this value gap should close. That implies substantial upside for Avanti shares.

C-COM Satellite Systems announced recently that its iNetVu 98 cm Ka-band vehicle mount and flyaway antenna systems have been approved by Hughes Network Systems for use on its high-throughput JUPITER System satellite networks.

C-COM’s iNetVu Ka-1202G antenna system was also recently selected by Avanti, a British-based satellite data communications services provider.

Avanti help reduce the digital divide in Africa Imarasat the group has selected the operator Avanti Communications sac plastiques to reduce the digital divide in the segment of small businesses in 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa !!!! Countries particularly affected by Imarasat: Kenya where the contribution of 1 !!!1 million small and medium enterprises - SMEs - 45% of the economy of the country but where 75% of these companies do not have internet access thus not being able to benefit from the gains of growth and productivity that broadband can offer !!! It should be added that 32% of SMEs do not have either of full 3G coverage !! It is before all those companies the sevices offered by Avanti Imarsat and Ka-band are addressed !!!

Some of the shorters have questioned last year's accounts because a non-cash item of $25m was included.

This deal was to settle a legal wrangle with SES. Spare capacity on one of Avanti's satellites, that it did not think it would use, was given up for 3Ghz on SES Astra 5B - this became Hylas 2B. So effectively Avanti got use of another satellite even though there was a cost involved to commission it for use.

"In addition, Avanti won an important new contract to provide connectivity to 4G cellular base stations in the UK with EE, post the quarter end."

Word of warning - keep an eye on your account balances wrt charges.

My ISA account dropped below the threshold for free accounting on 31st May and my broker planned to charge me the annual fee.

£30 fee for losing £8k on AVN was a bit of a shock.

Hope I have reversed it by funding my account - so now have to decide if I use those funds here or elsewhere?
