22/1/2011 10:22 | Issuing RNS's does not cost companies anything extra above the fee they already pay to have their shares quoted. They are effectively free, so whether to issue an RNS or not is nothing at all to do with cost. There are, however, rigid rules regarding the content of RNS's. | ![]() horneblower
21/1/2011 15:11 | Best to drop AVN and email to clarify Lavagrouch, but the way I read todays RNS it is to complete a project not necessarily a reoccurring payment but I'm not sure | ![]() yorgi
21/1/2011 14:50 | The figures quoted in these RNS's of EUR500,000 and GBP216,000, are these payable annually or just one-off payments? This is not clear in figures given in previous announcements of contract wins either. | ![]() lavagrouch
21/1/2011 14:11 | Thanks for that (Jefferies target) Restassured. Yes you are right what you say about wider possibilities for AVN/Hylas, I have said many times David Williams is very focussed and has big plans for AVN and I don't doubt he will achieve them. | ![]() yorgi
21/1/2011 14:07 | Yorgi Good to see some sensible posts. Gems did make me frown, bread and butter is a good term. As I said before I think it's just follwing the charts for now until something decent causes it to break out, sentiment won't. Remeber what I said about 640, it broke through, tried it best hit 585 briefly and launched back up again. It's dithering again below 640 so I suggest on the history anywhere near 600 or just below may be a good entry point. Which should happen soon. imo but then the bounce up again as the buyers move in. | ![]() superg1
21/1/2011 12:55 | I see the RNS as an example of the wide commercial possibilities Hylas can bring. i.e.It is not simply about broadband in remote areas. | ![]() restassured
21/1/2011 12:33 | 21st January 2011 Avanti BUY price target 1340p potential upside 112.4% Jefferies You're welcome. | ![]() restassured
21/1/2011 11:59 | Somehow I didn't think those two contracts would have much if any effect on the share price which they haven't and I do question whether it warranted an RNS along with the expense of it. | ![]() yorgi
21/1/2011 09:04 | Backmarker, I had first thought the switch-on bringing Hylas1 into service was going to be January but if you look back at the RNS's you will see it towards the end of Q1 | ![]() yorgi
21/1/2011 08:59 | yorgi, no, not gems, but good "bread and butter" type demo jobs, which helps maintain the profile and might pave the way to new markets and customers down the line. should do no harm to the share price meanwhile. still looking forward to the big switch-on. had hoped it would have happened by now. | ![]() backmarker
21/1/2011 08:14 | Wins yes but I have to admit I'm not sure I would consider them "gems" | ![]() yorgi
21/1/2011 07:17 | Avanti Communications Group Plc 21 January 2011 Date: 21 January 2010 On behalf of: Avanti Communications Group plc ("Avanti" or "the Company") Embargoed for release: 0700hrs Avanti Communications Group plc Contract Wins Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, is pleased to announce that it has won a two new contracts to further develop and demonstrate technology to deliver video to the edge of terrestrial networks using Avanti's HYLAS 1 satellite capacity. The first project, named "NXY", is a EUR500,000 project funded by the European Space Agency, which will develop video caching technology in conjunction with Mpeg 4 IP broadcasting to lighten the video burden on mobile phone and fixed line ISPs networks, reducing network congestion and cost. A second project worth GBP216,000 from the UK's Technology Strategy Board (TSB), "Digital Advanced Rural Testbed" (DART), is one of five "Networks Service Demonstrators" selected by the TSB to become national 'hotspots' where businesses will be able to test new business models, applications and services that can be supported by advanced, open and flexible networks and network services. Commenting, David Williams, Avanti Chief Executive, said: "The role of Avanti's satellites in the broadband market is well established but increasingly it is obvious that the relentless increase in demand for bandwidth around the World creates new urgent reasons to integrate satellite capacity into terrestrial networks, especially where video delivery is involved and these contracts provide excellent support for this development." ---ENDS--- For further information please contact: Avanti Communications Group Plc Tel: +44 (0) 20 7749 1600 David Williams | ![]() restassured
20/1/2011 14:30 | Well that's interesting logic Plasterkay :-) Perhaps we can liven it up......although what we need is something to liven the share price up somewhat. Seems to have dropped in sympathy with miners today which makes little sense to me. I'm quite sure DW will have some little "gem" for us soon :-) | ![]() yorgi
20/1/2011 14:21 | Must be due a rise, because the thread's gone quiet...when a bulletin board is busy it means no more buyers left... | plasterkay
19/1/2011 13:01 | guess Hylas isn't 'plug n play', not in the normal sense of the term anyway. should have gone to Radio Shack! | chrissey
19/1/2011 10:13 | yes, revenues are important. I think once we get that RNS that says HYLAS 1 is "in service" and actually earning money, then we'll move north again. then the addition of new contracts will mean addition of new revenues. should not be too long to wait. | ![]() backmarker
18/1/2011 20:17 | AVN has been well posted on the tip sheets and the launch attracted a lot of interest. It seems that the share price factored in a successful launch and there were plenty of PIs buying into that. Now we have a hiatus whilst the satellite is commissioned for use. The overall market is fairly strong, leading to a drift away from AVN into faster moving stocks. I think the share price will now be moved north again not so much by new contract wins - but by growth in actual revenues. This is the time where patience from longer term holders will be well rewarded in time IMHO. | ![]() melody9999
18/1/2011 09:07 | s_s are you suggesting that AVN will be the subject of a wikileak ? I'm sure Hylas 1 has some exotic software to filter out this sort of thing and prevent its transmission ! | ![]() backmarker
17/1/2011 16:42 | how desperate was that , then ? somebody sold a whole 1 share @ 643 (AT) to push the chart into negative territory and get a red ending to the day. BUT..... in the post-close auction a trade of 8058 @ 646 (UT), and the largest of the day, rescued it for a blue close after all. what drama...... | ![]() backmarker
17/1/2011 14:42 | 'What we never know is what is about to be announced' So true. | ![]() superg1
17/1/2011 14:37 | But there again you may well be right Blue......looks that way at the moment :-( Yes, I agree we need some "stonking good RNS" and who knows maybe we will. I take it as read that we will get the "in service" RNS fairly soon but it will be good to see some more contracts won. What we never know it what is about to be announced | ![]() yorgi
17/1/2011 14:29 | yorgi,i appreciate your cheer leading but i really cant see 700p any time soon unless we get a stonking good rns. Until then i think we will drift hopefully upwards until spring when the satellite is fully operational.Be glad to be wrong! | blue forever |
