Hi Q599,
Which ATYM Director has bought ? How many at what price ?
Scargs |
Well looks like a director took that buying opportunity! Nice of the MMs to drop price to help him out haha....maybe had to do so to fill the order....really positive to see as that is a meaningful amount to invest IMO/DYOR |
Buying opportunity? DYOR |
Have I missed a collapse in the copper price or something given ATYM now off 20% from recent highs? DYOR |

Not in vain, as the firm reveals in its sustainability report, its turnover fell by 6%, reaching 340.3 million euros in a year that was shelved with a rebound of 76.4% in its ebitda (gross operating profit), which rose to 73.1 million euros.
The Atalaya Mining roadmap Atalaya Mining thus strengthens its accounts while moving forward with its plan to reopen the historic Touro mine, which has remained idle since 1987. «At Touro, our social and environmental efforts have earned the recognition of local communities and interested parties. , which has had a positive impact on the perspective of our projects," says Roger Davey , president of Atalaya Mining , who will be replaced by Neil Gregson on July 1.
“ Proyecto Touro , currently in the permitting phase, is expected to become our second key asset,” adds Atalaya Mining, which owns a 10% stake in Cobre San Rafael . This is the partnership through which both Atalaya Mining and its partner Explotaciones Gallegas promote the reopening of the historic deposit.

The mining company whose CEO is the Galician Alberto Lavandeira "completed a positive pre-feasibility study in 2018, which contemplated a conventional operation consisting of open pit mining, crushing, grinding and flotation to produce copper concentrates."
The company is waiting to obtain definitive permits from the Xunta to be able to exploit this bronze deposit. Touro in which a new water treatment plant is currently operating. "It is addressing acid water runoff problems inherited from the historic mine that closed in 1987. The construction of the treatment plant was contemplated in the original project proposal, but Atalaya offered to solve the historic acid water problems before the new environmental impact assessment to demonstrate its operating philosophy and the advantages of modern operating systems," emphasizes the company.
The milestones in 2023 Among the milestones achieved in 2023, Atalaya Mining points to the request for authorization of wastewater discharge, the improvement of the Rego Felisa watercourse by stopping the acidic waters or the cleaning of the meanders of the Rego Portapego . The company assures that its objective is to "avoid any adverse impact on the environment, covering environmental, social and cultural aspects."
As part of this commitment, Atalaya Mining claims the 2 million euros invested in 2022 for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant aimed at improving the quality of the waters in the area , which still carry the scar of acidification as consequences. of the operations carried out there in the 1970s and 1980s.

Indeed, but European countries move at a glacial pace it's ridiculous
AGM on 27th hopefully will provide some decent news / update on trading, cash etc....DYOR |
Really hope we hear something on Touro being recognised as a project of strategic importance soon. I think this would be a game changer for ATYM. I have a lot of respect for all that Alberto has achieved and he is normally good at managing expectations but last year I believe he said he expected this to happen January then it kept going back and back. At the last investor call he thought by the end of May/start of June. Patience is key I guess!!! |
Good timing from the Directors' perspective in terms of the option award! |
Thanks, Glavey. |
Beware the (over)hype: |
Trouble with the Times is that you can't read articles without taking out a subscription |
Ah, sorry, have binned it, will try & retrieve it....I buy paper copy every now and again I don't subscribe sorry! |
Any chance of a cut & paste of that article, QS? |
Good article today in the Sunday Times Business about the upcoming squeeze in copper price due to demand way outstripping supply....talk of $24,000 or even $40,000 values per tonne DYOR |
Interesting appointment of mining M&A expert to be NED....just saying! DYOR |
Has copper had its "pause"? Now off to $5 again? DYOR |
This week's Clean Energy Spotlight by Longspur Clean Energy Research.
Chart of the Week looks at copper prices which hit all-time highs this week as tightness hits a fundamentally supply constrained market. Increased speculation is adding to the rise in prices on the back of bullish commentary from major funds such as Andurand and Carlyle calling for a $40,000 copper price. |
TA good afternoon and thanks for your post, totally agree!!
2024 should show Touro, Elix, solar power, FTSE index inclusion and hopefully increased yield as a minimum of news....DYOR |
I would be surprised if we're not taken out within the next 3 years...
Happy either way - having been here > 15 years. |
QS99
From Alberto's podcast I take the following:-
Within 3 years production will double;
Stripping at San Dionisio will increase the grades;
Elix will increase recoveries of copper plus the addition of zinc to the mix;
AISC will remain stable due to a number of factors;
Copper will rise, giving increased margins.
Looking back in 3 years time, I believe that today's share price will look like a snip! |
Volume certainly picked up earlier in the week. Some of that would be Director selling, but I suspect there was probably some profit taking post the recent bounce. |
Makes no sense for this to be off 20-30% as it is, on what? Copper has fallen slightly, forecasts for copper haven't changed have they? Demand still outstrips supply, lots of positives for ATYM this year.
Maybe big seller in background?
Very odd, any views? |
SP Fall for ATYM seems a little overdone unless the Trafigura directors share sale prefaces a reduction in Trafigura interest in the business. However, Alberto just said in Q1 results Trafigura didn't want to sell at 4.80 so seems highly unlikely. Even if Trafigura did it would be an off the book deal... |
