Technically copper just made an ATH above 5.10 for the 4th time since May 2021 if the price can now stay and be maintained at these levels for any given time horizon then that bodes well for the company's longer-term production goals, which are all well aligned. |
Interesting to see how bullish our conservative CEO may be tomorrow |
Thanks, useful. That should help ATYM enter some index given its market cap! DYOR
Copper holding firm over $5.....should bode well for EBITDA for ATYM....DYOR.. |
Someone has pointed out I got the FTSE review date wrong. It should be 5 June, not 29 May as I wrote. This means ATYM should easily meet the listing period qualification. I don't think they meet nationality, but you can never tell with FTSE! |
Good morning all, looking forward to another week of ATYM beginning to re-rate to be properly valued....BHP bid for Anglo to get hold of Copper stores, in Sunday Times, a sign of things to come IMO....DYOR.....Touro gets permissioned as well and we should be off to the races....let's see |
Freeport went up the same as atym, so probably the copper price. |
Small free float of stock |
There may be several theories to explain the steady rise in share price
1. Tuoro - yes
2. FTSE 250 - yes
3. Copper - in my opinion the most compelling single reason for the rise.
FY 2023 with copper averaging $3.80/lb the margin was $0.71/lb At current Cu price of $5.054/lb the margin rises to $1.96/lb
An increase in margin of 176%
Or to express it another way, an increase in profitability approaching a factor of three.
Compare the above figure with the increase in share price thus far this calendar year of 37%.!
Compounding nos. 1 and 2 with 3 leaves me to believe that the present rise is modest compared to the future potential for this stock. |
Have just got my jacket! |
12 inches I believe. |
somethings afoot. |
There were a couple of 100k+ bids in the auction before market open so someone buying in volume - maybe in advance of FTSE 250? Just unwinding the demand through the day as well as increase in copper price. Happy to hold and watch the gentle rise. Touro in 2024 H1 would be great! |
Nice little jump in share price this afternoon - News on Touro? |
Atalaya dividend policy is: Annual payout of 30 – 50% of free cash flow generated during the applicable financial year. The annual dividend will be paid in two half-yearly instalments and announced in conjunction with interim and full year results.

yes. There is a formula but can't recall details. Others will. Should be a decent divi this year. |
does atym pay dividends |
US copper prices soar to record high as funds pile inShort sellers cover negative bets as gap between US and UK prices hits largest on recordhttps://www.ft.com/content/4b672545-0049-4250-ad86-0064bbfbc0a2Nice to see Trafigura get a good stuffing! Commodity traders with bearish positions, including Trafigura and others, are rushing to secure copper to deliver into the US and close out their short positions, according to two people familiar with the matter. Trafigura declined to comment on the short position. |
So based on the 3-5 times above, IMO ATYM could be with copper around these prices pushing 150-200m EBITDA....with an EV of c.600m that just looks the wrong price IMO!
Let's hope they get the divi motoring for shareholders!

Rolo7, a few months? Where have you read that?
FTSE Ground Rules state:-
"An existing security that has become newly eligible, for example a security transferring from AIM to a premium UK (main market) listing, will be reviewed for inclusion at the next quarterly review and will be subject to normal eligibility rules including a minimum 20 day trading record and meeting the liquidity criteria based on trading volume on the main market only."
It is probably no coincidence that ATYM moved to the main market on 29 April. The annual review is announced at close on 5 June. Taking account of the two bank holidays this meets the 20 days.
However, the domicile looks like being the sticking point. I think there's sufficient liquidity. I think the median daily volume needs to exceed 0.025% of the market cap. In the last month the median has been about 0.26% (on 10 May).
Note 20/05: I've corrected the review date - I originally wrote 29 May. |
Atalaya would need to be listed on main market for a few months anyway to be included in fste250 index |
good summary, let's see what the outlook/forward looking statement is and whether they have hedged any at this level |
With copper at 3.70 we were making around 50 to 70 cents per oz profit. At 5 we are making 180 to 200 cents. That's 3 to 4 times previous profit levels, and without cost savings or e-lix grade benefits. Q1 results however won't show hardly any benefit, as copper didn't go above 4 until beginning of April, ie end of period. Q2 though should be pretty good. |
That should be |
We know a better one! |
Dave, thanks for the Oak Bloke article. A good summary of copper possibilities. |
