"The mining team at Liberum Capital have singled out Asiamet Resources Ltd (LON:ARS) as its pick in a copper sector that is heading into surplus, with the price of the red metal set to slide to US$2.50 a pound by the middle of next year.

“We prefer the re-rating upside in developers over the negative earnings momentum of the expensive producers,” the broker said in a note to clients.

The dynamics of the market is such that the rest of the world is no longer eating up supplies Chinese businesses aren’t buying.

After hitting a 2019 nadir, the price should rally to around US$3 a pound, Liberum said."

That article is good for copper and therefore ATYM, but even better for SOLG in Ecuador and possibly the biggest new resource anywhere...

PRT expansion next up for us to 55,000 Tonnes and I can't see the LOM being capped at 12 years either, with the known/unknown resources over the whole site footprint..

On costs, the 2018 forecast AISC $2.50/2.60/lb is worst case and taking into account a lot of the preparatory works ahead of the 15.0MTPA upgrade, the Rumbo/Astor royalties now payable and the 10% negative FX swing we've seen on the EURO/USD.., I can see Rumbo taking more shares tho' instead of cash, why wouldn't you, they will go up and return a dividend 1 day..

2018 will be transformational @$3.00 payable Copper, we should be able to pay for the 15.0MTPA upgrade mostly from cash over the next 18 months.

Touro is going to be an exciting opportunity to add another 35,000 Tonnes a year.., and then there's the Zinc project...?

Good grief waterloo. You don't really think it was Regan who sorted out the Soviets do you. It was the Greenham Common women as anyone who listens to the BBC would know.I agree on the cash front and it will be interesting to do some short term trading as I have generally been a buy and hold man.Having said that I will still hold the majority of my shares, including good old ATYM , for the medium to long term.

It's one reason to hold some cash to pick up some bargains as and when and why I've become a fan of VILX as a hedge. Copper should remain a relative safe haven, especially those with low debt!

Trump is doing exactly what he said he would. Scary but who knows. I though Reagan was dangerous but star wars led to Glasnost.

Interesting isn't it - I can't imagine his chums on Wall Street sitting quietly for too long whilst the market plummets and those cunning gentlemen in the Far East know that. A deal will be done but it's going to be volatile in the meantime. Could be a good market for trading.

There's a "first" showing on L2... A bid at 08:49 for 22,500 @ 215.00 without a MM tag attached... Thats a full 4 points higher than the MMs are offering and at near 10 times the NMS.. Somebody wants some shares!

Edited to add: Seemed to have been there for about 10 minutes, hence the quick up-and-down on the intra-day chart. :-)

I look forward to having some capital gains #waterloo01, £11.5K a year would be just fine, any more equally accepted tho'... not to mention some tax free dividends too from inside the ISA wrapper... :o)
