Phew but then the American markets were so overvalued they needed a correction. Still more expensive than ours so not overly concerned. Anyway all my nervous energy is currently focused on IMM!

#Husbod, this puts things in perspective doesn't it.. all the $1/lb cost producers are subject to cyclones, earthquakes, flooding, labour strikes, remote locations with no power supply or disruptions, no local sea port or transport infrastructure and if that isn't bad enough then there's the risk on top of new mining permit 'tax' or just as you start to turn a profit the minister for expropriation decrees 'that's ours now', then the Gov invents a new tax law or regulation that needs a special license payable in advance to carry on mining.. it's just too unpredictable..

Euro mining is fine at $2.20-2.30 AISC.. :o), Copper on the rebound at 3.06/lb
Our plant expansion to 15.0MTPA will be funded from 2018 profits, Astor settled in 2019 from profits, and maybe a dividend in 2020..! (Touro funding TBC)

Long article in the Telegraph business section today about growing "resource nationalism" which makes very interesting reading. Particularly focuses on African governments especially the DRC and Tanzania where the state is looking for a bigger share of the value of their mineral wealth. Can't argue with that but as the mining companies point out it isn't worth anything until all the expense and expertise of identifying it and building the mining structures has been incurred. Anyway the inevitable consequence of countries not honouring their own laws (DRC) and/or demanding unjustified arrears of tax (as per Arcadia in Tanzania) etc is that companies won't invest and the long term impact will be highly inflationary for commodity prices. One thing about the EU is that that sort of behaviour can't happen which makes a certain Spanish mining company even more attractive. I think I've become a fan of "resource nationalism and African despots!

Another encouraging comment from IC.

We re-tipped Spanish copper group Atalaya Mining (ATYM) last week, ahead of full-year results out today. The most important new details concern guidance for 2018. This year, the company plans to process 9 per cent more ore, but lower grades mean that the lower end of production guidance (37,000 tonnes) is just shy of last year’s total output. All-in sustaining costs could hit as much as $2.60 per pound payable. A buy once again.

Tuesday there was 600k in the don't know section buys/or sells
Yesterday there was 116k in the don't know section
Does anyone know what they were.
you'd have thought the share price would have move up or down on that sort of volume

Out today..CANA 290p BUY Rec update note (7pgs)

ATYM remains our top copper pick
Atalaya Mining remains our top pick amongst our copper names under UK coverage.
With over 35% upside to our target and significant derisking catalysts to come in 2018,
we see it as a copper company with the strongest company specific growth for the
coming year. The Riotinto growth project, the Touro permitting process and the potential
final settlement of the Astor liability are all catalysts we expect in the current year. We
maintain our BUY rating on the stock.

While we now include
the Riotinto growth project (to 55ktpa) in our valuation, we still do not include the Touro project in our full company valuation.

#Husbod, dividend investing might be dull but the 6/7% dividends are just fine, AV./BP/NG./GSX/VOD/RDSB etc etc.., and tax free from inside the ISA..

The sooner ATYM start paying a dividend the better too, but that will be after Astor and 2019/20 .. :o)

Only 2 sells today at 210p by the look of it, plenty of buyers around pre ISA time..

Sadly...more exciting than ATYM ATMO... ;-)
