One last point on crypto. I think blockchain is interesting however it strikes me coins are little better than valuing the leaves on a tree. In fact I think that's how they ended Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy!

Keeping well away from the Crypto space here.. :o), the technology will adapt and survive I'm sure, but while exchanges are hacked, coins are lost/stolen, exchanges collapse (Mt Gox 1 of many ), hard drives can fail, and the network can only process 6 payments/second globally, it's not IMO a usable tool for daily transactions with the costs to process payments that miners are asking.. and as an investment with regulators now getting involved I see it as a Ponzi scheme waiting to fall over, but we will have to wait and see..!

Meanwhile at ATYM.. 2017 Q4 numbers and some news Monday morning anyone..?

Not a paper I look at often but note that almost every finance story is related to crypto currencies. Crazy stuff.

Hi cflather Not if the phase 3 trial results are as good as the optimists on that bb are hoping but that of course is the big if. It's one of those potential multi baggers where you can also lose most of your money if it goes wrong - not for widows and orphans as they say but if you have money you can afford to lose....................

Hi dudam. My better half thinks stock market investment is no better than gambling. She has no idea about the in depth research we all do, the knowledge we soak up during our hours on the bulletin boards, the nerves of steel that are involved and the pure intellectual satisfaction of knowing that we are participating in such a worthwhile pursuit..................or the amount of money I have lost over the years on ATYM!

Calculated risk LLB based on the wild assumption that all the posters here are male and of a certain age!True waterloo- good day here and IMM atm.Solgol has been on my watch list for a while rouge but I'm not sure my nerves can take another start-up-sometime-in-the-future copper mine in a Spanish speaking country! The reserves/mine size looks good though so might not be able to resist in due course.

Nice tight spread and no I am not going to mention a good woman again- the lesson has been learned.

If this goes up much further I'll be hit by vertigo.Hopefully ATYM will be like a good woman - ignore her for long enough and she'll do what you want.Apologies in advance for that disgraceful comment. I take women very seriously indeed and the last thing I would want to do is upset them. Equality and Diversity course here I come.

Understood Erric and I think shortarm makes a fair point which was at the back of my mind also.

That is, the steady substantial buys. Your point is well made and I agree in that without these significant buys the market would be very quiet and probably drift away.

As to the spread, well we've had to put up with this nonsense for years. The true dealing spread is almost always tighter than the quote. I've taken this up with the LSE and FCA and they say nothing is wrong, even when I've given them detailed evidence of firm quotes to buy or sell in much greater than 'normal market size'.

(But of course we've done that debate to death in the past...)

It is not unusual when at least one MM has a firm order in size to fill and the buyer is relaxed on timing, for the MMs to have the courage to drop the Bid and try to cheekily make more money, knowing they have a firm buyer.

In the last few days we've seen a pattern of steady sells going through at just above the 'Bid' without knocking the price; but when the 25,000 Buy comes it is at the Offer.

Nice business for the MMs...

And it must be a sizeable order in the background based on what you spotted shortarm...

AIMHO as usual

Disagree Erric, it's been a long time since we've seen consistent 25K, 30K and 50K buys on a regular basis. This has been the case for the last couple of weeks.

RP, I don’t think there has been significantly “strong” buying by institutional investors or anyone for that matter, in recent times.
Volumes are still low - daily turnover has been less than my personal holding for all but 3 days in the last two months and you couldn’t describe us PI’s as significant in any scheme of things.

The share price gyrates I guess because the free float is so small.
By that, I am suggesting that many shares are held by LTH like me, some playing the long game, some frozen in the headlights, some chasing break-even, some still holding almost unconsciously without justification.

Our price spread is often up to 5p and I don’t believe that will change until we get a month or so of daily half million volume.

Surely this time the rise has been supported by strong institutional buying...?
