lankn...this IS the ATYM BB; I'm not remotely interested in Bitcoin (except to liken it to Tulipomania)...and I haven't done that (commentary) for months...

Why? Because I'm very happy with my position here, including filling my dilution at sub 158...

#SBT, according to the expansion to 15.0MTPA RNS the 2018 AISC should be $2.10/lb..., and that makes a big difference to your numbers for the 43,000 forecast Copper output...Next news due is the Q4 2017 output tonnages, and the Touro 43-101.. :o)..

Saint B, that is the big unknown. SH got a response from the company to say that the large disparity between any Q's average and realised Cu price was mainly down to timing. i.e. Cu price has been rising and the time it takes to sell the Cu means that the price recorded for the Q is always lagging and lower. If this is true then I don't think we need such a big discount. It is strange that other co's don't seem to have this issue though.....

Anyway looks like we are off the races...

Reba. Think you will find the 10K was published at 10.53 just as the mid-price was adjusted to 173.50. It was normal that this should be shown as an "unknown".

Super Bob. Thanks for the figures. I think your Cu Price realised may be on the high side. Nearer 2.95 IMO, but it`s getter better all the time.

Well RP it makes a wee change from your running commentary about the daily Atalaya share price action. Which thankfully you have toned down for the time being. Yawn ..... :-)

Cufes2 - As I said I dont have an uncomfortable sum of money tied into Crypto, so will survive regardless of whether the bubble bursts or not. :-) Forget about Bitcoins etc. Please read up on the underlying technology and then pass judgement. Its not as if Im stating that "earth is flat" :-) Im merely pointing on the revolutionary potential the technology has, if people can just look beyond the media negatives BITCOINS, bubbles, money laundreers, hackers and criminals etc (Im not talking about bankers by the way) and focus more on the tech underpinning it!!

All the best

You seem to make a lot of false assumptions . . . Possibly why you wasted so much time invested here . . . I started investing in 1999 and saw a bubble inflate and pop . . . Posters advocating cryptocurrencies sound like taxi drivers who were investing in worthless dotcom stocks back then . . . History has a tendancy to repeat itself and some people are willing to learn from it rather than make the same mistakes again . . . Good luck, but be wary . . .

To illustrate imagine that someone had found a cure for cancer and posted the step-by-step instructions on how to make it on-line, freely available for anyone to use. Now imagine that the same person also created a product called Cancer-Pill using their own instructions, trade marked it, and started selling it to the highest bidders. I think we can all agree a cure for cancer is immensely valuable to society (blockchain may or may not be, we still have to see), however, how much is a Cancer-Pill worth?

Initially, with no one else making cancer curing pills, and people hearing about the trade-marked name, it’s very likely the profits would be quite large and the price of the pill ridiculously high. However, as the money flows in, another person would without a doubt create a pill using the same freely available instructions and call it Cancer-Away. Cancer-away may not initially be as recognizable as Cancer-pill, so it might fetch a smaller price, but eventually both prices would converge as they are essentially the same thing. Over time, with more and more cancer curing pills with different names arriving on the market, the price of all of them would converge to something very close to the cost of production (ie. materials + time to make it). I think we can all agree this is a good thing, as it means the maximum number of people will be able to cure their cancer at the lowest possible price.

How does this apply to Bitcoin? Well, Bitcoin is simply the initial Cancer-Pill, but as mentioned above there are now 1,365 different “pills” in production and counting. While creating a cancer pill, even with step-by-step instructions, would require some materials, equipment and incur some costs, the production of a random generic e-coin costs pretty damn close to $0. All you need is a website and some hype.

The bottom line is that while a cancer pill is very valuable, it would not be a good investment to buy up the pills for far above the cost of making them, if the formula for making them is freely available to anyone. Similarly buying Bitcoin, or any other e-coin, is a bad investment even if you truly believe block-chain technology will change the world.

I’m definitely not stopping this debate as I’m extremely curious about bitcoin et al.

I’ve tried to get clued up but am unable to fathom out why it is so popular with any one other than money launderers wishing to stay anonymous.

I accept its my lack of understanding at this stage but for me it’s a case of “ if you don’t understand the product then don’t invest in it”
