Did Kobold actually make the discovery with AI ? ROFLMFAO |
Took the opportunity to buy another £20k worth...
Still tempted by this price...
£5 by 31 December
£10 in three years...if we're not bought before then... |
Near term pain with a production miss and revised guidance, basically a profits warning. The solar keeps getting pushed back to or is that my imagination. Any near term catalysts, i suspect not. One to tuck away, sigh. |
Fall looks way overdone IMO. Next few years to see ramp up in new production, with copper price looking like it will hold up well, let's see...DYOR |
First production miss in some time with revised production guidance, hopefully off set by higher grades |
Thanks for posting the Fidelity article link. Would query their comment about no new Copper discoveries for decades. Kobold have discovered reserves in Zambia which they say will be one of the largest high-grade copper mines. Yes years away before production, probably, but this is a Jeff Bozos/ Bill Gates backed development so I assume a serious project. |
CU price again at $10k depending on your source - good news on Touro - whats not to lik as CU moves back towards $10.5k. As it does the shareprice here should jump back towards £5 with the additional production and higher grades kicking in late 24/early 25 from San Dionisio expansions. Surely onwards and upwards |

Reckon we should get Q2 production report week after next. |
Copper price moving North again is encouraging and IMO has held up very well.
Hopefully with results due early August based on last year, we can see what effect that has had.
Hopefully add to cash pile & EBITDA numbers...

It's been touted a few times that the strategic project status guarantees full approval to be granted within 12 months. As others have said lots of work has already been put in to developing this mine so Let's see!! |
It's worth reading the bellow from the RNS. They have been working on the mine and preparing the ground for permitting for some years now. Question is how much the speeded up process, speeds up. I'm sure they will do their best to get it moving.
Alberto has form in getting a mine up and running in the most cost effective way. Brokers will need to rerun numbers, even Stifel above have a mine life of 12yrs. It's already 15yrs
"Proyecto Touro has been designed to be a benchmark in sustainable mining in Europe and a milestone for Galician industry. Copper production is expected to average approximately 30 ktpa over a mine life of around 15 years. As a result of the project's location in a region with high quality infrastructure, capital intensity is expected to be very competitive compared to most development projects globally." |
Great thanks. Let's hope ATYM can get motoring on the updated plans to show the upside potential here for the share price DYOR |
Note out from Stifel. They have it as a buy with target of £5.95
A 2018 pre-feasibility study contemplated investing $165M of development capital to establish a conventional operation to produce 30ktpa of copper over a 12-year mine life at C1 cash costs of $1.73/lb and all-in sustaining costs of $1.85/lb. At a $3.00/lb copper price, the project yielded an after-tax NPV8% of $179.9M and an internal rate of return of 20.5%, however extrapolating the linear sensitivity to current spot prices would yield an NPV8% of $627.2M.
Currently, Touro represents only about 2% of our NAV estimates as we assume higher capital and operating costs, but refreshing development plans should outline a low capital intensity project capable of delivering attractive returns and establishing a meaningful second producing mine for Atalaya. |
Market waking up it seems |
indeed and probably! Cheers |
Maybe you were thinking about atym joining the FTSE250? That's still ahead of us and should give a boost.. |
Thanks, I thought they had to wait for longer given the domicile issues etc, I was wrong apologies. yes maybe new broker note after AGM |
Atalaya joined the Main Market on 29 April. |
I doubt any broker will be publishing immediately ahead of an AGM. |
They usually put out broker notes. I've asked. |
Thanks Waterloo01 and totally agree.
Not sure they are on the main market yet are they? That upside still to come IMO and this news will really help drive demand at that point, again IMO!
Need to start getting some timelines and costs etc into the market and wonder whether a broker upgrade will be made now?

It will take sometime, but QS99 suggests it should be speeded up by the strategic status. It also makes it clear that the Junta support the mine. The ecologists will fight it I'm sure.
Alberto has played it very shrewdly, with meeting the demands (and about 1m + in spend) to de acidize the site and fully line it. It wasn't needed as they will mine through the issue, but was needed to show commitment.
He was exceptionally shrewd in getting rio tinto back online and a much reduce cost. A real quality mining CEO and only recently on the main market.
Edit: Had a note from Alberto this AM, with two words. "Persistence pays" |
Hi Rimau1 how are you?
Great! TKO proving to be a nice little earner as well and FLO coming on stream is also ace.
ATYM will need all the permitting but this allows Touro IMO to be front of centre and as they say, hopefully speed up that process through to production. Its a key part of that journey. And markets look 6-12 months ahead often, so will start to price in what this could mean for ATYM....
DYOR |
I've followed you over from TKO. Good news today but surely still need all the permits for Toura which as we know can take a year or two. |
