Investors hate uncertainty, especially the big boys, algorithm's just sell on negative news.Could we see the 3 year low of 85 pounds. Going to be interesting. |
'AstraZeneca bets its future on US growth'
++ Move will be a boost for Donald Trump's incoming administration
++ But it will be seen as a setback for the Labour Government
++ The US is already by far Astra's largest market

He now needs to tow the party line |
Hi what are you referring to? |
Brilliant, brilliant, absolutely.Employ the poacher. |
My target is the 3 year low of 8500p until things get sorted out. |
What is Fasenra benralizumab?
Fasenra is an asthma medicine used to treat adults with a particular type of asthma called eosinophilic asthma. It is used as an additional treatment in adults with severe asthma that is not adequately controlled by a combination of high-dose inhaled corticosteroids plus medicines called long-acting beta-agonists. |
Pharma is not the sector to be in, no matter what the share is. |
Pfizer peaked at $60 at the end of December 2021. It subsequently collapsed as the huge profits from its covid vaccines disappeared. Recent trading had been around $30 but it started to tumble again about a week ago, no doubt as rumours spread re Robert F Kennedy - the anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist - being appointed US Health Secretary. Last year Pfizer pre-tax profits fell from $35bn (Dec 22) to $1bn (Dec 23) though they are recovering this year - the last two quarters have shown a marked improvement, the forward p/e is a (fairly) modest x15.5. But the market obviously doesn't like the Kennedy news and the stock is down 4.5% as I write, pretty much the same price movement as GSK and AZN on the day. Moderna, really an RNA vaccine company, is down nearly 10%. |
The only pharma that escaped so far is HIK. |
Poor old GSK been hit, Astra got let off lightly today. |
Agree with that. |
I wld say this will be in the 8s by xmas |

See? Yanks having a field day shorting this |
And that is why I am so bearishMajority of investment portfolio is in US mkt where I am up over 220% since 2021I have made the most from shorting UK blue chips though - mindblowing value destruction but unfortunately the UK Gov has for decades been more interested in other things.Seriously AZN shld be on abt 15000p but it is the UK so valued far less. And it is often unprofitable to go against the market. . . |
Agree that the UK market is not an investment place anymore but a casino. |
Will presume the drop more viciously once the yanks open |
Pfizer dropped abt 2% but the shares are not far off their 2 year high.Gsk / AZN on the other handIts UK plcAs i said, perfect mkt for shorters |
Pharmaceutical companies were the main FTSE 100 losers. GSK was down 3.2%, Croda International lost 2.9%, and AstraZeneca was down 2.5%.
"The announcement of vaccine-sceptic Robert F Kennedy Junior as health secretary pick for the incoming Trump administration has spooked investors in the sector, with US drug companies also seeing their shares come under significant pressure overnight," explained Mould. "The impact on the sector is hard to judge fully at this stage but, at the very least, it will cause a good deal of uncertainty." |
I am short here for good reason - its the UK mkt. Labpur will turn it into even more of a basketcase.Uk mkt only good for traders, not investing |
U.K. indexes are the total pits, since 2016 outflows have been non stop, nowhere to hide, least of all pharma. This not as much as a dog as Gsk but prob heading that way. |
