19/10/2010 15:56 | You're probably right, tt, but sometimes the risk:reward ratio can make things very tempting. I'm assuming any liabilities are ring-fenced. If all else fails, I'll make a bid for the company! | acquisitor
19/10/2010 13:03 | acquisitor - a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush... legal wranglings will continue... imho | targatarga
19/10/2010 12:58 | Had a closer look at this, and I think it could finally be a bargain. The company is capitalised at £1m, but will received c£2.5m from the sale of Astaire Securities and a further sum for the sale of RD. Add to that the other cash and assets and the massive tax losses, then this becomes a very interesting reverse takeover target for someone, worth a lot more than the current share price | acquisitor
15/10/2010 15:42 | 500% rise - come off it! I've just bought 300k at 0.54p, just a wild punt that this can go no lower. The tax losses, plus possible cash make this an interesting shell. | acquisitor
15/10/2010 13:25 | shammy - sorry to disappoint but the payment is all in cash, there are no shares coming to us! from the RNS announcement: "The consideration is GBP2.45 million comprising GBP2 million cash to be received on completion and GBP450,000 to be placed in an escrow account" | warpedone
15/10/2010 13:14 | The new company has the infrastructure in place that Astaire struggled so badly to set up. It's a winning combination. Hefty buys being lined up this afternoon. This will zoom next week ;) | shammytime
15/10/2010 13:08 | I told you all! Excellent news. Wlr - what will happen is that shareholders will receive x shares in the new company. A bright new start. I'm expecting 500% rise from this level very quickly on the back of that info | shammytime
15/10/2010 13:01 | what does this mean for us shareholders? I would guess nothing positive; especially for those holding at higher prices. | lr4850
15/10/2010 12:19 | Astaire Securities sold for £2.45m | warpedone
07/10/2010 08:23 | Something going on here...looks like sale may well be close to completion | shammytime
24/9/2010 07:27 | sadly I suspect you're right. | warpedone
23/9/2010 06:25 | I doubt whether there is anything like £8m in the bank, as the market cap is a fraction of that. Winding down the businesses would eat up what's left. Let's face it, if this dog was worth anything, the management would be buying shares. That's the acid test. | acquisitor
17/9/2010 17:43 | Is there anything left to this dog? doctor death appears to have done it again, as the company teeters on the verge of oblivion. | yohoho
17/9/2010 07:05 | RNS Number : 8409S Astaire Group Plc 16 September 2010 ? Astaire Group Plc ("Astaire" or the "Group") Result of General Meeting 16 September 2010 The Board of Astaire announces that all of the resolutions proposed by Brett L. Miller and Rock (Nominees) Limited at the Requisitioned General Meeting held this morning were duly defeated. James Noble, Astaire's Chairman, said: "This meeting was an unwelcome distraction at a time when the Board has been wholly engaged in seeking to recover shareholder value. As outlined in our statement of 31 August 2010, we are continuing to hold discussions with a number of parties regarding the sale of our two main operating businesses, Astaire Securities PLC and Rowan Dartington Limited, and will update shareholders further in due course." 24/8/2010 07:14 | Amazing how the warring management teams have succeeded in destroying millions of pounds of cash over the years at this company. None of the strategies put forward have actually added any economic value. Probably best that they return the money and sell off the businesses. | acquisitor
20/8/2010 13:05 | Handbags at dawn. Not impressed by Astaires counter arguments and are they looking to raise more cash in theirs? | lr4850
20/8/2010 09:57 | Bit strange calling two meetings a tthe same time. did you see citywire article? full of errors but old management sounding off in it - could be a good fight at the egm | warpedone
20/8/2010 08:19 | Anyone see the RNS after close yesterday? Astaire management under pressure! | lr4850
18/8/2010 08:33 | creeping lower ready for the knock out bid of 1p... imho | targatarga
11/8/2010 07:08 | The management are not that daft, they know that DAN would sweep them out. Better (for them) to hang on as long as they can. I fear the worst. | cartagena2
10/8/2010 08:43 | Agree. Management had chance to redeem something by accepting DAN's offer. They have failed shareholders- not that they care as they'll probably do nicely out of it as they have already.!!! | lr4850
10/8/2010 07:36 | Oh dear. The share price is telling us this is about to go belly up. | acquisitor |
