The backlash was actually good for ASOS, since they have now put even stronger protective measures in place! Nobody wants C19 spreading amid the warehouse workers!

“It is simply not true to say we don’t have social distancing protocols in place and it is not true to say that we have thousands of employees working under one roof. The reality is we typically have around 500 colleagues working in our 680,000 square feet facility at any one time and we have strict social distancing protocols in place but, it must be said, it is also our colleagues’ responsibility to adhere to them.

“As directed by the Government, we, along with other online retailers, are ensuring we are striking the right balance between keeping our warehouse operational, for the good of our employees and the wider economy, and maintaining the health and safety of staff, which is always our number one priority.”

"Since the lockdown, we have introduced a range of additional health and safety measures and the Environmental Health Officer, who visited the site on Friday, confirmed he was happy with the protocols we have in place," it says in a statement.

"The Barnsley Council issued a statement on its website on Monday revealing it visited ASOS’s warehouse and found it has been complying with social distancing measures."

Awwwww...bless!

It seems that this share has become a trading paradise! Watch them inducing an artificial 5% drop every day, and then rushing to buy back in. Must be emotionally exhausting for them :-)

I have been here 20 years and have no aliases - but the EW forecast is tha 80% of all US Cos will go bust and the DOW will head below 1000 - all by the end of 2021. Even Goldman Sachs are predicting 34% fall in GDP and 15% unemployed - could be an underestimate.
I would concentrate on just staying alive: always possible that a new more virulent strain will develop and the death toll could exceed 100million wordwide - worst case scenario think of the Black Death killed about 50%

New investor here, after more than a decade of being a satisfied customer. By the way, their new, paperless return system is easy, efficient and very appropriate to pandemic --and beyond-- times! What I would like to see now, are news about happy Asos employees! Additional bus space, more disinfectant (and even toilet paper, lol). No C19 cases in the warehouse, just people happy that it stays open, so they could keep their jobs!

It's uncertainty that helps hold the market down on a general basis. Just wait as soon as the market can see the light things will take a turn, even if we are still under lockdown. Market just needs to be able to see it's path. Alot of shares will rise before this is all over and that simply comes down to the fear that's currently there. Gla and take care.

The US business very important to asos now, hardly any lockdown there and will bounce much harder than uk, the uk already on its knees even before the virus with three plus years of the brexit sxxtshow trashing sterling, USA is where to put the big spend for asos going forward, uk and europe are toast.

I agree with you, scale back a bit to keep operating but having alot less people on site. If they can keep distance between eachother hopefully things can carry on.

who knows! It depends if the European and US distribution has to close/ contract. It will mess up summer season sales, but there will probably be a lot of pent up demand when it gets back to speed. People will have money burning holes in pockets? Not having been able to spend any for 2 or 3 months!

This seems like a public relations nightmare waiting to happen. The next two weeks are going to be the most intense media wise and this scrutiny is not going to go away. ASOS has a huge opportunity to be the number one choice for all those bored restless shoppers over the next month or so but Nick Beighton seems to be making a real mess of the situation. Why not scale down the operation in Barnsley for a couple of weeks to make social distancing more practical and keep some goodwill? Do you think the european/US business will be affected?
