Seems to me the management (and many of the rest of us) didn't fully allow for the huge boulder that Trump has chucked into the world trade pool. He is not known as a disrupter for nothing, and the Chinese are not currently lying down and letting him tickle their tummies. We have got used to him settling his trade and political disputes in short order, as his adversaries give way and he makes his little wins. Maybe that will be the case in a few months here, time will tell.

Charles - they do have an ace up their sleeves, it’s called copper and lots of it in a market when everyone wants it.

Shanksy - what is desperately needed now to stabilise this situation is a full and frank statement / interview with management with questions from PIs answered directly and openly. Only then can we move forward from this debacle. I have held on to half my holding and will continue to do so because I believe the future is bright (best bright copper in fact). But I won't add any more until I fully trust the directors again.

Was going to stay invested here on the basis of the resources in the ground. However, I really cannot reconcile continuing to hold shares here with my belief that these directors are not people I would trust to tell me the full truth about anything.

I suspect the analysis here has accurately nailed what is going on and the share price will quite probably be much higher in due course. But why would I leave my money with people who IMHO routinely ignore their obligation to keep shareholders updated in an accurate and timely manner.

One other thing, assumptions are being made of forecasts 2 or 3 years down the line.

We had a massive recession in 2008 and markets have boomed since.

There are also forecasts of another recession within the next 2-3 years...all things must be considered...It is not a foregone conclusion that it will be all rosy even for the commodity markets

Regardless as to how it has been handled/communicated - it comes down to a single question - from a long term investment perspective it serves no one if they give away much of the project upside to financiers as a result of short term market sentiment.

The US miners with much more marginal copper mine development projects that saw the finance door open and then close by becoming too expensive this year, have elected to sit on the assets and wait for improved market sentiment rather than give away too much of the upside to the financiers. This is the primary reason why there has been a waterfall drop in capital investment since the price of copper dropped below $3 in 2014.

An estimated 10%-15% of copper mines are currently loss making at $2.75 copper.

MT,

Well well. You talk a good game..You also helped build up alot of positive anticipation here with copy/paste of stats and data etc.
But is your research is flawed again in the near term?, particularly on your faith in the BoDs as well.

Look we all get it wrong sometimes.

But your exuberant commentary on stocks you buy into does you no favours.

GBO, SPL(MPL) are not exactly a couple of your winners but I am sure these are exceptions

However it is unfair to compare ARS to these two

What annoys me is I was told this was a crack Management team with loads of experience.
The Institutional support provided added comfort, but Steve Hughes leaving was a red flag. He was suppose to leave to have time with his family back in Canada and then after a period when people had forgotten about him, he was made CEO of Canube Copper.
I thought at the time there was more to that, but ignored it. They gambled and backed themselves into a corner and have now tried to fob us off with it would be good to do some more drilling. Well guys you have really got to pull something out of the bag now, to get us back on track and restore trust that you aren't throwing us yet another line.
They must be embarrassed in their industry and the I.I. will be jumping up and down. Let's hope that reputation they had can now deliver something extraordinary.

Well after sleeping on this and seeing today’s open I completely concur with HG about the not coming clean aspect. Bod were obviously speculating on higher copper prices to make the bfs “feasable̶1;.

Glad I sold a few yesterday as I think it will be a while before we see 8p again when taking into account the inevitable dilution. (I don’t think the current Beutong uncertainty will encourage a partner in time to avoid a placing).

Another stock in the bottom drawer. Can only blame myself for keeping too much risk on the table in an overall bearish stock market.

Have to say I’m gutted as the bod could have allowed long term holders to de-risk by being more forthcoming and the adsurance of a bfs in a matter of weeks and now this is just completely u acceptable on any level. At least they will be hurting too as a result of recent share price action.

Can only hope that some of the incessant selling above 9p was short selling so that at least the trades will be covered unless forward selling which will provide no consolation.

See you all in a few months, if I had more investable funds I would be looking to accumulate as I believe in a much higher future copper price but shouldn’t risk more than you can afford to lose.

Good luck all and hope nobody is going to face any hardship.

HG - pretty much my view - they did't expect the copper price to correct back to $2.75 and when it did held on expecting a recovery back to $3+ by late Q3.

From a shareholders perspective there is no point in taking out expensive finance if most of the longer term benefit of the project is given to the financiers - particularly when the medium/long term copper market fundamentals are flowing strongly in our favour.

Using the next 4-6 months to move more inferred resource into indicated will strongly underpin the investment case particularly now they are actively looking for a partner of substance to fast track the further evacuation and development of Beutong( as this should start to generate some value in the share price for an asset which currently adds little).

Basically, Beutong and KSK are now likely to be developed as stand alone projects - which should improve the investment risk//reward by potentially accelerating the pace of development of Beutong albeit at the cost of some upside potential.
