30/3/2017 16:09 | Lol! I think that this would require the willing suspension of disbelief! However, as a committed long, I view any rise with equanimity, despite my misgivings! . | ianwwwhite
30/3/2017 16:04 | Good day ian Thanks for that. So if The Trump Wall does come to pass it's a large bonus and Palwing will be thinking £25-£30. | bracke
30/3/2017 16:04 | Personally, I'm waiting to see what Deutsche have to say... :-) . | ianwwwhite
30/3/2017 15:58 | Good afternoon bracke I think not, this from a summary of the Liberum note: -------------------- 'The brokerage also pointed to the fact that government policy in the US is supportive of higher levels of infrastructure investment, saying that a it phase of fiscal expansion could provide an important source of momentum for the rental industry. "This combined with potential changes in the corporate tax system in the US suggests that changes in government policy could be supportive for Ashtead in the short and medium term." Having said this, Liberum made it clear that its investment case is not dependent on any of these proposals and would see their enactment as "nice to have" rather than central to the investment case.' -------------------- | ianwwwhite
30/3/2017 15:03 | Perhaps Liberum are thinking The Great Wall of Trump will bring much business to plant rental companies. That would bring Palwing his £20! | bracke
30/3/2017 12:08 | No its not original. In fact they are years behind in using it but essentially - more of the construction companies , maybe especially as they expand, will turn to renting plant rather than tying up capital and buying it. The US is some way behind the UK in this but has been moving this way since 2008 | fenners66
30/3/2017 11:35 | Good day fenners "rental market penetration rate" ==================== Is that code for further acquisitions? | bracke
30/3/2017 11:12 | Ashtead Group, up 3.3%. Liberum started coverage on the equipment rental firm with a Buy rating. Liberum analyst Rahim Karim said a positive outlook for rental market penetration rate in the US is a key pillar in Ashtead's investment case. | fenners66
30/3/2017 11:06 | Thanks again bracke.... now looking for the push to £20 tipped not so long ago by some broker or other? But wtfdik? | palwing13
30/3/2017 10:28 | A strong rise this morning straight through the likely resistance zone. If it does retrace that zone is likely to act as support. | bracke
30/3/2017 07:51 | New Broker coverage. Liberum Capital Ashtead Group PLC 30/03/2017 Initiates/Starts Buy 2 1,940.00 1,638.00 1940 2 | broadwood
29/3/2017 15:48 | As the share price moves back up it will likely find resistance at the 1650/1660 zone. Namely the Median Line and the Daily SMA 50. | bracke
28/3/2017 10:17 | Wolseley is the highest riser on the FTSE today - usually a bellwether on the US housing construction market..... | fenners66
28/3/2017 10:09 | I made some money from PET, I bet the share price both ways at the same time when the Iraq project was coming to a conclusion, share price was going up or down so if it did I could not lose. That however was not investing. | fenners66
28/3/2017 09:49 | Hi fenners Thanks, that background makes very interesting reading. Not shares for widows and orphans then! I understand bracke made some money from PET, perhaps a case of 'the exception proves the rule'? Good luck in your battle with the RAG mob (rampers, apologists, gamblers), someone needs to set the record straight, and warn the unwary! . | ianwwwhite
28/3/2017 09:24 | LOL Am I a holder ! No of course not. I actually genuinely believe that someone has to strike a balance against the rampers, apologists and gamblers. The more I looked at the complex web of companies in the Clontarf stable the more I could not believe the audacity of the operation. It's a long history of failure, new projects , cash raising , project capitalisations, followed by failure , write offs and start again. Add to that the fact that the same directors in differing companies are funding their remuneration out of shareholders funds (there is no turnover) to get involved in projects in, South America, Iraq, Ireland , Cameroon, Botswana , Jordan, South Africa etc ostensibly in oil , gas , gold, diamonds etc makes you wonder how they find time to see their families, or perhaps they put less than full time into each of those roles? Yet the boards still have their die hard supporters (?!) which co-coincidently happens to be useful when the only source of income for these companies for say a decade has been share sales. So hobby project , read the accounts and ask questions using quotes from themselves - makes the apologists very uncomfortable. Also I know people from this board who have been burned (Not Me) and I don't like that. | fenners66
28/3/2017 08:15 | Hi fenners Thanks, now I understand. Are you a holder, or do you just visit their thread for the blood-sport? :-) . | ianwwwhite
28/3/2017 00:38 | Ian - yes its a Clontarf stable "company" - not AHT related after all AHT sell stuff .... | fenners66
27/3/2017 23:10 | Hi fenners, I'm confused, wtf has Botswana got to do with AHT ? In the meantime, I'm encouraged by everyone else's posts, but still not persuaded, I'm a buyer at around 1500, if not I'm still a long term hold..... Edit: Botswana, is this a PET group legacy post? . | ianwwwhite
27/3/2017 21:55 | IanThe "reality" is that AHT is trading on a PE of 15, with a forward PE of 13. IMHO it isn't trumped up, on the contrary. That said, I agree, if this dips below 1585 I too will be topping up.Good luck :)DD | discodave4
27/3/2017 21:37 | Bracke - Botswana apologists falling for more blarney again "a proposal exists" ...... | fenners66
27/3/2017 21:36 | May I remind you all of the growth in US housing starts..... It's just a shame the yanks could not have waited until our next tax year before sticking one in Trumps eye! | fenners66
27/3/2017 21:25 | Brake, DD, Lol! Dream on! Reality will soon be in play imho. Still a long term hold, in my view, but be prepared for choppy waters ahead in the meantime I'm looking to top up when the price weakens... | ianwwwhite
27/3/2017 19:36 | Thanks bracke. | discodave4 |
