Speedy and HSS up dehumids and space heaters flying out the door |
this jobs number will be slightly less imp than cpi next i feel. due to comps the cpi y/y is certain to rise and that might ruffle a few feathers. i dont think a strong nfp will do the mkt any good either. yields are uncomfortably high and thats not helping nor will a stronger nfp. i think the wages number is a key watch today. if thats soft then they can go to the races today. |
NFP forecast 1:30pm, consensus 165k.Unemployment no change. |
plus side is its holding around the 50 quid sup. if breaks then looking at 44xx. valuation wise its trading below mkt multiple when basing that on spx stocks. downside is uri has come right off recently to a 16 fwd multiple while aht is on about 17 plus. aside from that i think stock news is now well behind it and it should move in tandem with the us mkt. so further weakness there would mean more here and vice a versa. |
£ still dropping vs the $ and now AHT reacts upwards a little. I reiterate I believe $ earnings are going to be much more valuable to us over the next few years.
I see that the rich district of LA is being devastated by wildfires. I hope they have insurance. But its likely they will get rebuilt and a mini construction boom there in time. |
Thanks Bracke. Amazing as always. I will inwardly digest tomorrow when I manage to keep my eyes open. Jet lag has whacked me, plus old age of course! Much appreciated and thanks again. |
On another board someone just said "Jitters about anything bond yield related is hardly a UK specific problem"
However -
Bloomberg just told us that US bond yields highest for 1 year
UK bond yields depending on the 10 year or 30 years - the highest since 2008 (16 years +) or since 1998 (26 years +)
That IS a UK specific problem
So the usual Financials suspects are reacting as expected with some largish falls that may get a lot worse. Next place I looked was the £/$ and the pound is falling.
Which in theory could be good for US $ earners and perhaps would have been better for AHT if they had already moved the listing to New York.
I suspect $ earners will do relatively much better for the next few years. |
Hi all. Back from a hot WA to the stark contrast of freezing UK weather. Not sure which I prefer best. Jet lag not quite over, so still haven't got a clear head yet. As disco mentioned, Trump could dynamically change things on a global scale. On that note, his drill, drill, drill comment peaked my interest. This is not a ramp or anything but I have been a long term holder of PANR, for my sins. Yet to make anything as they have been underwater until fairly recently. Has anyone else spotted the recent turn of fortune in their share price or have any thoughts? Bracke? Apologies off topic, but AHT seem to be just floating along and I thought it might liven up the day? Regards to one and all... |
Good day Mr b"At least Mr Trump should provide some entertainment in 2025."He sure will.Be good to see this close above £50. |
Dipped in and picked up 100 |
Good day palwing
I envy you the "steaming hot".
Good day disc0
At least Mr Trump should provide some entertainment in 2025. |
Good day Mr bWe skipped carol singing outside MacD this year and went to the sticks for our Christmas pheasant and squirrel hunting.....along with the occasional rabbit (Dracula isn't as fast as he was, poor thing).Yes I do hope 2025 is a lot better and look forward to your pretty charts and analysis - I knew I shouldn't have posted a new all time high was looking promising....then came the profit warning!.As per palwing - wishing all a very healthy 2025 |
Happy, healthy, wealthy 2025 to one and all from a steaming hot Western Australia. See you on the other side. |
Good day disc0
I presume you were out with Dracula carol singing which was sufficiently awful to encourage people to pay in an effort to move you on.....ear protection money.
It would be nice to think that 2025 will be better than 2024. For UK citizens I doubt it. As to other events it seems the best hope is Mr Trump achieving an end to the Russia/Ukraine War.
I will merely bid you all a Moderate New Year. |
Merry Christmas all. |
Tomorrow (Friday) is OPEX...that should be interesting. |
Good day demo
Bottom feeding again demo, I think you should change your name to 'The Tench'.
I wish you well with your investing. |
Thanks Bracke-

The DOW was signalling unease.Up to and including Tuesday it had fallen 9 consecutive days. The inflation and employment data had levelled off. We ought not to have been too surprised. The US market has been front running the FED for months; yesterday it showed the danger of doing so.

A visit to the 5022 low appears likely following the opening rise which could not be sustained. Prospective buyers still waiting. ===================================================================================
SP held at 5022. Whether it will go on to test 4882 I suspect maybe determined by the reaction of the US market to yesterdays unpleasant data from the FED.
AHT DAILY |
Good evening Mr bI see our cousins are flapping again......a cut was odds on plus no surprise JP was hawkish on cuts going forwards. But as ever shock horror we never expected that, jeez!. |
Good day disc0
There is nibbling in the AM and selling in the PM but at least there is some nibbling.
Perhaps the FED will assist the cause later with a much expected rate cut. |
Good day demo
