12/7/2019 13:10 | L2 Bid stronger by the day srp. Likely to jump to offer of 2.25 before long imo Yes, I see they now are up to nine. Starting to get traction in that area, I can see there being at least a few hundred by the end of next year.DYOR | clocktower
12/7/2019 12:58 | The Laura Ashley website has updated to show another tea room, in hotel via franchise Ramada. dyor L2 anyone? tia active | srpactive
11/7/2019 09:18 | D99 Thank you. CT Lets hope the light is there, your target would be most welcome. dyor active | srpactive
11/7/2019 08:47 | srp, L2 getting better by the day, imo one can ignore talk about a very large overhang from a big seller - bar news to the contrary, I expect light at the end of the tunnel is in sight. One year from now maybe 10p+ | clocktower
10/7/2019 21:17 | No idea, either an Institution wishing to get out or an individual with a large shareholding. | davy99
10/7/2019 16:33 | Who do you reckon it is? | srpactive
10/7/2019 16:15 | Looks like the volume seller still has a way to go. (Just my opinion) | davy99
10/7/2019 14:19 | Seems to me that someone is happy to pick up chunks of 100/200k at around 1.90 range, and no doubt building a decent little stake. L2 looks solid from 1.75p | clocktower
05/7/2019 16:16 | The management have enjoyed taking it from a valuation of £240m in June 2015, to £13m now. It is time for change, I believe the AGM will be in London this year. Thank you and you, good thread. | srpactive
05/7/2019 16:11 | Certainly a lot of potential but is the BoD interesting in pursuing that in an active way, or are some of these other large PLC`s so blind that they cannot envisage how LA could not only return to its former glory but exceed it by become a truly international brand. Have a good weekend and enjoy the sunshine srp. L2 better support from 1.7p than the last few days. | clocktower
05/7/2019 15:11 | Also cwrt bleddyn tea room opening soon, this hotel is owned by Ramada I believe, and they are owned I believe by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, one of the largest hotel groups in the world. dyor active | srpactive
05/7/2019 14:57 | Yes and after the sale of both the Singapore building and the hotel, we had £15m in the bank and little debt. And look at our market capitalisation. dyor active | srpactive
05/7/2019 09:13 | ALY, sold off its Hotel - The Belsfied - but as you will see from the link two more are on the way (Franchises). Tea Rooms: As you will see from the Link above, there are already eight and with a brand like this it could be expanded massively, not only in the UK but Internationally. If I were running Whitbread PLC I would be looking for a Brand to replace Costa Coffee, which netted the company a healthy profit. If they offered 10p a share it would only cost them around £72 million or they could do a very long term Franchise deal for the Hotels and Tea Rooms if the main shareholder would not sell. The potential is huge, if you look at the number of town centres that have old fashioned tea rooms that are packed with customers wanting a bit of what the likes of LA offer is staggering, in addition I can see many other ways of replacing the Costa Coffee or Starbucks Coffee Shops. Even the Yanks like to advertise the UK Tea Shops for Free: :-) Turning to Retail. LA have been building the company retail on-line for some time, and have a decent growth record in this area. At present they are running a sale which I believe is very successful, and I think we will all be surprised by the figures and growth. They also recently appointed another franchise partner that has considerable experience in retail, and I think you might see that expended rapidly. So, you can see that they are keen to expand the business through franchise operations, hence not requiring the capitol or the risk but making good use of the value of the brands. Incredible that they are not lining up to try to buy the company as the potential is huge, if under the right management. In brief that outlines it killieboy. | clocktower
05/7/2019 07:29 | Will do killieboy,when I have a little more time later today. | clocktower
04/7/2019 21:32 | clock - the "different company now" is majority owned and imo is going private. Yes there may eventually be a bid premium -but from what low price 1p? | fenners66
04/7/2019 18:58 | Can you outline the "new direction" ALY seems to be heading please!? | killieboy
04/7/2019 17:56 | Evening CT | srpactive
04/7/2019 16:36 | Laura Ashley seems to be heading in a new direction, besides the growth of its on-line presence, it has turned to Franchising Hotels and Tea Rooms in addition to offering Retailers the chance to Franchise ALY. The Share Price is on the floor at under 2p. There are risks due to the history of the main shareholder and past performance but this could be a recovery stock and one worth doing research on. I am not yet invested in this but waiting for the right moment and the right news. | clocktower
04/7/2019 16:31 | C Where is it? | srpactive
04/7/2019 16:28 | This thread has been going since 2003 - ALY is a different company now and focusing on new routes to market, so I thought I would set up a new thread - If anyone is interest please feel free to post. | clocktower
04/7/2019 16:16 | IMHO Looking again at the closing bid/offer I would say the seller hasn't finished yet. dyor. | davy99
04/7/2019 15:34 | CT Yes | srpactive
04/7/2019 15:28 | D Yes if the management have anything to do with it. If Aly won the £20m lottery they would find a negative, probably they would focus on the £2 it cost them for the ticket. | srpactive
04/7/2019 15:27 | The price already reflects any bad news imo. However, there clearly is support in small numbers and L2 is stronger than it was yesterday and the spread has come back a bit but the stock has not really moved as the bid has been around 2p for some time now. More upside than downside - nothing to short here is there debs. :-) | clocktower |
