ZAGREB, June 19, 2019 - Croatian Energy and Environment Protection Minister Tomislav Ćorić and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on Wednesday agreed on setting up a working group tasked with analysing the potential cooperation on the gas markets of the two neighbouring countries.

After their talks in Zagreb on Wednesday morning, Ćorić said that they had discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation between the Croatian and Hungarian gas markets.

We have agreed on establishing a working group consisting of Croatian and Hungarian experts and in the coming months it will analyse potential pros and cons of such form of cooperation, Ćorić said.

The Hungarian minister confirmed that operators of the gas transport systems and national regulators would be included in this task.

This will be the closest cooperation between the Croatian and Hungarian gas markets so far, he added.

I would like underscore that we treat the diversification as a crucial issue.

An LNG terminal is a realistic scenario and we believe that partnership can help us to be partners in this project and make it innovative from the view of the energy security of the region of Central Europe.

Therefore we have agreed to continue our talks, Szijjarto said.

As for the gas supply diversification, he recalled that Hungary had already expressed readiness to negotiate a possibility for Budapest to have a 25-percent interest in the future company that would run and own the LNG terminal off the Croatian terminal of Krk.

Such cooperation could create a market situation whereby the purchase of the LNG gas at that terminal could be economically visible and competitive for us, the Hungarian minister said.

Ćorić said that he found this form of cooperation a positive step forward.

Such cooperation is expected to result in combination of stakes held by owners and the lease of capacities in the terminal.

However, he admitted that there are differences in which steps to be taken in that regard.

I am sorry but I don't think AST has any interest in gas it's all about litigation now and how much more they can squeeze out of PIs through placings. Plenty of dilution to come here once the consolidation is done. Current share price is set to be decimated to fund the 2 million annual admin costs after all the BOD must get paid for all the hard work they do creating shareholder value !

Why don't we re-enter PG-5, PG-6, PG-7, PG-8 and PG-9 ?
The build up of pressure would be massive (no need to hydraulically fracture).
The revenue would be handy !

All wells are already connected to the CPP via pipelines.
All wells drilled to over 2,000 metres.

Would we need a permit ?
If we did and the Slovene Authorities were obstructive then that would add ammunition to our case.

...and our compressor would be even more valuable.

"A resident of Slovenia uses in the household on average 37,000 litres of water annually from the public water supply."

We will be using 300,000 to 600,000 litres of water per stimulation.
(and we should be able to recycle it)

i.e. about the same amount of water a dozen Slovenians use a year !

I think we should open up a couple of other wells and export more gas to Croatia.

The Administrative Court will be reviewing this in December 2019.
In the meantime I think we should sort out PG-11A and its water problem.

What environmental issues have arisen from doing this stimulation over 50 times on various wells absolutely none. So is it really about the environment or do arso have a vendetta against ast...

I think Colin should do a presentation detailing the amount of water and chemicals that we are going to use and make comparisons with North American operations.

The presentation should also list the chemicals that we are going to be using and what happens to them after the stimulation.

The media would be interested in such a presentation.

Old News :-

"The Company realises that as it is involved in production which involves low volume fracture stimulation there are some parties who raise environmental concerns.

The gas is contained in sandstone reservoirs and therefore these reservoirs need to be stimulated, in the same way as has been done many times in the history of the Petišovci field.

The first operation of this kind at Petišovci was carried out in 1956 and, prior to Ascent's participation in the project, there had been over one hundred such operations carried out with no recorded negative environmental impact.

Following the operations to stimulate Pg-10 and Pg-11A the impact was studied in detail by independent third parties in Slovenia and no causes for concern were raised.

Whilst the process is compared to the hydraulic fracturing carried out on a large scale in North America and elsewhere, the practice is so different as to render such comparisons irrelevant.

The gas in Slovenia is contained within sandstone rather than shale.

As sandstone is much more brittle than shale significantly less water is needed at much lower pressures and far fewer stimulations are required.

In addition, the maximum number of wells at Petišovci is expected to be a small fraction of standard North American developments.

The proposed development in Petišovci is therefore not comparable to projects in North America."

Just A Thought :-

"Russian scientists and local oil field services companies claim to have created a technology for thermochemical gas fracturing that could be an alternative to hydraulic fracturing and could increase oil production by between 1.7 and 6 times, Russia’s news agency RIA Novosti reports, citing the University of Tyumen’s press service.

In hydraulic fracturing, rocks are fractured with high-pressure injection of fluids, while the new breakthrough technology, as claimed by Russian scientists and media, is creating chemical reactions in the strata that contain oil.

The chemicals react and emit heat and gas, which makes extraction easier and lifts well productivity, according to the scientists and researchers.

The other upside in the technology, the Russians claim, is that the main component in the chemical reactions is ammonium nitrate, which is often used as fertilizer.

According to Professor Konstantin Fedorov, Director of the Institute of Physics and Technology at the University of Tyumen and the scientific consultant on the project, the improved well productivity effect lasts between 300 and 1,000 days.

Production increases by between 1.7 times and 6 times compared to the initial output level, although the scientists have seen tests with production increases of 10 to 20 times.

The success rate is close to 100 percent, Fedorov claims, as reported by Russian media."

If they did re-stim 10/11 how could it be breaking the law as they have already stated it is not fracking and that is the reason for requiring the permit, I would do it and get them to prove it is fracking (which they can't)!

On a glass half full side- Maybe they have restimmed without saying, so cant release production figures as have massive increase and they are trying to find a way to release it.Temporary Stopping production could be a cover ;-)

JB being ill is prob reason for seismic data delay IMO but who knows!

I agree with bluehorseshoe.
We only heard JB was unwell because he wasn't at the AGM !
We only heard production had stopped because it was in the media !
We only heard about the problems with PG-11A when gas revenues were well down !
We only heard about the "annual maintenance" of the wells after it happened !
