26/10/2007 20:39 | Thanks for posting the results link AK. Though I am still more than a tad cynical, in terms of shipping and logistics (I work in the business). A newcomer to this company/thread would think wow, a Chinese company in logistics & shipping, based there, strength & growth in local economy, has to be a winner. However, we (holders for a while, that is) - know different. Happen if they divest all the coal/power generating type stuff, and concentrate on moving and handling cargo, you never know. Eventually. Would also help if the founder/mover/shaker was released from prison. Anybody have a clue what is going on there? | ![]() damanko
26/10/2007 09:49 | The results are very encouraging even though the power plant has halted due to funding, the core business of the Company is terminal operation shipping logistics where most of their money has come from and which is keeping the company running, as you will see in the interims of this year: And besides the company ceasing the power plant until funding is available, this is the first time they have been in profit since the interim of 2004 if you click the above link to see the results for yourself. | akramms

26/9/2007 20:53 | Results ok except the power station. The big question is...are there any residual liabilities? I suspect the power assets will be impaired at the year-end, now that the operator has gone bust. I wonder whether they can walk away from this troubled subsidiary. If they can, then things will look much better going forwards. Keen Chance Terminal will look good on its own. | ![]() topvest

25/6/2007 14:31 | Yes. Not many of us on this thread, and I don't suppose any of us left are really surprised. Perhaps we should all meet up in a pub one day, and discuss the best way of pouring money down the drain. My story would start one sunny day in 2003, when I read an article about ARKO Holdings............ | ![]() damanko

25/6/2007 13:07 | I am pleased to make my report to you for the financial year ended 31 December 2006. During the 12 months to 31 December 2006, turnover increased by 14.8% to US$9.3 million (2005: US$8.1 million). The terminal operating subsidiary, Keen Chance Terminal Limited remained the principal contributor, providing 86% of Revenue (2005:84.8%). The balance of turnover was provided mostly from the shipping logistics business. The gross profit amounted to US$4.2 million (2005: US$3.3 million), representing a growth of 27.3%. Excluding the amortisation and impairment loss of goodwill as well as depreciation totaling US$5.7 million (2005:US$3.7 million), the Group generated a profit of US$2.2 million which was 200% ahead of comparable results in 2006. The reduction of operating loss by 51.3% comparing to 2005 is driven by a write-off of US$4.9 million last year. After tax and minority interests, the Group reduced its losses by 40% to US$3,521,202 for the year ended 31 December, 2006 (2005: US$5,907,500). As at 31 December 2006 equity shareholders' funds were US$43,513,173. | ![]() damanko
