I really think that the mark down on Friday was ridiculous - It's really because the damn MM's gave the poor guy who sold out such a low price

Springbok - LOL!

Wouldn't it be better just to get the papers drawn up to give someone, with at least half a brain, power of attorney over your portfolio?

I sent this email to ARKO last Friday:

"Hi Angela,

I'm sure that your Directors have noted the sharp drop in the share price today.
I and my fellow investors are extremely concerned at the lack of news eminating from ARKO and also we are very concerned that you have no "Investor relations" service set up to answer shareholder questions. PLEASE can you direct us to the email address or Telephone number of the Director that would handle this or please can you tell us as a matter of extreme urgency who we can telephone to obtain information on the present company situation."

Let's see if we get any response

Thick enough already, though RNS above does bear some re-reading. Implications are a little weird though. A little going on over there, of which we know nothing. The week ahead may prove interesting.....

Arko Holdings PLC
06 May 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 6 May 2004

ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE

Arko Holdings plc ("the Company" or "Arko")

Further Variation of Agreement with
Great Wall Foundation China Limited
For placing of 50,000,000 New Ordinary Shares

Arko Holdings plc announces a further variation of its agreement to place
50,000,000 new ordinary shares of 0.5 pence each (representing 2.53 per cent. of
the enlarged share capital of the Company) at a price of 8 pence per share with
Great Wall Foundation China Limited ("Great Wall"), which was announced on 23
August 2002.

The original agreement was that shares would be subscribed for by Great Wall in
three stages (1) 12,500,000 shares to be issued within 90 days from the date of
signing of the agreement; (2) 18,750,000 shares to be issued within 180 days
from the date of signing of the agreement; (3) 18,750,000 shares to be issued
within 360 days from the date of signing of the agreement. A non-refundable
deposit of #80,000 was paid to the Company by Great Wall at the time of the
original agreement.

Great Wall did not subscribe for any shares under the original agreement and
accordingly, by a variation of the original agreement announced on 22 April
2003, Arko and Great Wall agreed to extend the period allowed for subscription
for the total number of shares (50,000,000) until 10 April 2004.

Great Wall has subscribed for 2,785,714 shares at 8p per share and these shares
were issued to Great Wall on 26 April 2004. Application will be made for these
new ordinary shares of 0.5 pence each to be admitted to trading on the
Alternative Investment Market.

Great Wall and Arko have now agreed to enter into a second supplemental
agreement whereby

the period allowed for subscription has been further extended to 25 April
2006; and

the subscription price will be 95% of the average closing price for the
seven business days prior to the subscription.

I LOVE THIS BIT AT CURRENT PRICE AND 7 DAYS WE MAY SEE A PURCHASE BY GREAT WALL OF CHINA JUST A THOUGHT

Application will be made for any further new ordinary shares of 0.5 pence each
to be admitted to trading on the Alternative Investment Market as and when they
are issued to Great Wall.

I'd be very wary on this one. I took a look at this a week or so back and it didn't feel right to me. Something bad is happening imo. The majority shareholder being in prison is never a very good sign anyway, particularly when his dad is now running the show. Not tempted to "bottom fish" in this murky pool!

I'm dreaming that I'm falling.....could be any AKO sharehoders current and never ending nightmare. Also there's a falling knife that I'm running around trying to catch....I guess there must be some Freudian type explanation buried in there somewhere. The value investment argument basically still holds, all those key port assets and a share price in free fall.

If the likes of Ocean Wilsons (OCN), Clarksons (CRK) and James Fisher (FSJ) can all enjoy a rapidly rising share price these past 2 years, on the back of expanding global shipping and trade, then why can't Arko? Even Van Hoogstraaten could run his property empire and Zimbabwe holdings from the nick (no pun intended!).

Just my thoughts exactly....I'm holding off for a better bargain. Clearly 1p doesn't seem to present a psychological barrier with AKO....Okay spelt backwards.....right?!.....90% of the shareholding banged up....could be regarded a sort of insider holding too!....usually a plus point in my estimation.

Springbok - Do you honestly think WINS would have done all that hopping around for a measly 1mln sell??

A "T" trade would usually have shown by now, so I think it's fair to assume that WINS are keeping the size of today's dump under wraps for the time being.

Could be some more fun on Monday....

Actually I was studying the trades data and it was definately the 1,000000 sell @.75p at 13.30pm that brought down the price. Amazing drop for a miserable £7500 settlement! The guy must have been really desperate for money
