With less miners, and less "threat" from China and less myths about China "controlling" BTC, our investment here is looking more positive! For now!The main consequence of less miners is the transaction time and how it will effect take up by the public for general use."Bitcoin processes around 7 transactions per second. Visa does around 2000 transactions per second on average"Without a major change to the protocol BTC will start to take days to confirm transactions and claim much larger fees as the usage grows.Visa has a max of 24000 per second at the current time so has quite some scalability built in.Considering the Federal Reserve process's 24 trillion transactions each day anyone who thinks the planet will one day be financed by BTC alone is a bit mental!

hxxps://www.coindesk.com/inner-mongolia-to-shutdown-illegal-bitcoin-miners-by-october-as-china-phases-out-industry

China has decided to stamp out bitcoin mining and has already shut down mining centres that are not legal, and tasked legal ones to close in the future as it is not part of the great plan. This may make companies like ARB more valuable. I suspect there will be no mining at all of any significance in China in the near future.

Anyone anywhere can mine bitcoin but it all comes down to efficiently. Arb claim is 80% efficient there current kw/h power usage is 3 us cents which is similar to the Chinese cost Kw/h . There is a sense of urgency Arb have 2000 new machines in operation since the July update so have increased their mining capability by 50% in less than 2 months, mining is becoming more difficult which should in theory push up the price of bitcoin and as we approach the halving now forecast April 2020 a lot less viable for small miners to continue unless btc moons .Once mined I suspect ARB convert to fiat via the exchanges such as Coinbase pro as they have a responsibility to shareholders so I doubt they sit on to many BTC mined .

My point was could China decide to dominate this and if so is there anything bitcoin could do. Agree it is necessary to monitize coins mined rather than hold as this strategy increases risk to shareholders.

Not need to dilute shareholders with equity calls if your BTC is earning

Horneblower as I have mentioned several times I attended agm. Company has broad policy to manage coins earned by selling to pay expenses and pay for new kit.... and excess coins will be then managed by taking a view on btc price etc. Broadly at that time they were at selling around 50% mined coins for cash.

Since then new kit orders almost certainly mean higher sales proportion.

Long term I very much hope we are building a substantial treasury of coins as I believe in the long term trend being up.

I dont believe they need or should have a fixed policy on coin sales. Need to be able to be flexible according to company needs for funds as well as short & long term btc price.

If you dont believe long term trend will be higher btc prices then this might not be the right investment! With the significant increases in difficulty/hash as well as halvening now looking like late april or early May next year.

Mining is done on computers on the network.
It makes no difference where it occurs.
Huge amounts of energy are required to mine a single bitcoin so energy from renewable sources is essential or bitcoin mining will destroy the earth.

Short term btc needs to get back to 9,600.
ARB share price is, impressively, holding its value against the gently falling price of bitcoin. This is unlikely to remain the case imo unless ARB converts its mined bitcoin to $US as and when they are mined. The company should tell its shareholders what its policy is on this.
