Acquisition of GLD Productions. Should be a good additional stream of revenue for Arena

Hi Dan

Will be pleased to see any research that you can do. There is not a lot to go on without forecasts from the company or a broker.

Correct you are; sorry for that rather pointless comment!

Will contribute some research at the weekend as compensation :)

Arena Leisure Plc ('Arena' or the 'Group'), the UK's leading operator of horseracing fixtures which owns and operates seven racecourses in the UK comprising Doncaster, Royal Windsor, Lingfield Park, Wolverhampton, Southwell, Folkestone and Worcester.

This was the old ARE, and has no connection at all with the recently listed company as far as I can see.

Worth starting with a review of what happened with Arena last time they were listed. I don't know the answer but saw they have been in the past

There seems to be very little interest in this company based on no bulletin board activity for over 3 months. The interim results were very respectable showing a 12% period on period increase in sales together with very positive comments for the remainder of 2017.

I can see no broker forecasts, so have had an attempt at preparing my own for the year ended 31 December 2017;

Sales: (12% increase year on year) £114m
Gross profit: 29% (same as 2016, but could be better) £33m
Admin expenses: (£1m more than last year) £25m
Interest: (only £10m of debt now) £0.5m
Net profit: £7.5m

The above includes an annual depreciation charge of approximately £5.6m, so without any capital expenditure a cash profit of £13m.

The net profit produces a P/E ratio of less than 10, whereas the expected P/E ratio is 15, based on other hire companies e.g. SDY, AGK.

So the bottom line is this is a growing company and the P/E ratio of 15 would produce a market price of nearer 100p. There probably should be a discount due to lack of liquidity, however we will have to wait and see what will happen over the next 3-6 months as to whether the market agrees.

If any other reader has different forecasts to mine I would be happy to look at them.
