More likely that the son-in-law will engineer a merger with Curry’s. Suspect Ashley will play the old CFD market in the stock.

one can but wonder to oneself whether it may or may not be just coincidence that Odey sells to Frasers.

1.Article on Sky News about Fraser's acquisition of a major stake in AO:

2. Let's recall that this is not the first time that Frasers has shown interest in AO.

One can but wonder to oneself what the further intentions of Frasers may or may not be.

FeelThepPain totally agree and with Odey in as well all I see is that they both see money even if it’s only for the short term, how high that means for the share price who knows, but defo will be watching now

Can't work out if Mike Ashley is good or bad thing. A strategic partnership good, prelude to taking control bad.

Mike Ashley’s retail conglomerate acquires a £75m share in AO World.
Abm June 10, 2023
Frasers Group, established by Mike Ashley, has acquired a £75m share in AO World. This move is part of a series of strategic deals under the new CEO, Michael Murray, who continues the company’s approach of making significant investments in competing firms, a tactic Mr Ashley was renowned for during his tenure.

The group, which owns Sports Direct, Flannels, and Evans Cycles, revealed after the market close on Friday that it had bought an 18.9% stake in the online retailer of domestic appliances.

This purchase equates to 109 million AO shares at a cost of 68p per share. The closing stock price on Friday evening was 69.15p.

According to AO World, the investment represents the successful conclusion of two years of discussions between the two companies.

Currys bricks and mortar stores survive because they sell a lot of highly profitable add ons a friend I know who works there has a 40% strike rate on large white warranties and believe me those things are highly profitable.online without the human contact I would be surprised if they get a quarter of that.I am not particularly bullish about them at present though because although the recent update was not bad they have issues in the Nordics and the way their share price keeps falling is a concern.IMO

sure. currys are good and competitive.

but the cost burden of their bricks-n-mortar stores is a massive overhead.

and let's face it, you get much better technical info from online reviews, video-clips and tutorials than you ever will from some young general sales rep in their stores.

why should AO set-up stores when Currys already provide this great showroom service for them for free?

In fairness Currys are already competitive with the net and they also price match with online.

Curry's are just a free showroom for customers who then buy from AO and other online retailers.

Physical stores for mainstream white-goods is a busted business model and unsustainable.

AO figures will be beyond analyst forecasts as repeatedly flagged by AO with their multiple guidance UPGRADES.

Great entry point on recent pull-back.

Some understandable profit-taking after recent big rises.

Graph continues to look solid and upwardly.

Recent 14/4 update further underpins all previous and repeated updates and "ahead of" statements.

Beware the usual trading day spike, these have a history of it, ebitda is not profit, going forward that will be around £50m based on the projections given, no mention of what the cost of the renewed Crédit facility cost, most certainly a lot more than last years extension, good news none the less, the real question is how is the cash burn doing, if ebitda is £50m next year but all that itda exceeds £50m there is nothing for shareholders and that’s been the problem since flotation no dividends and two rights issues gla imho dyor
