The guy is 63.. let him retire and enjoy his life and future dividends ! Hes gonna finish on a high with record results and financially set up AEP for next stage of growth. Good luck to Mr B and thanks for a job well done .. prudent financial management over 18 years.. Lets hope new chap has an equally safe pair of hands.

HVS are you expecting good results? Slightly disconcerting that the FD and CS decides to leave right now, IMHO only. Would welcome any other thoughts?

RNS today - that the 'Finance Director and Company Secretary' (the same person) will be retiring on Friday, and naming his replacement plus another new director, both taking office on May 1.

Rather short notice! But explains the delay in releasing the figures ? The new board - with new FD and CS - won't be able to meet until May 1 at earliest, so I presume the results won't be out until after that date.

pp - 'Why so many buys of 125 shares ?'

That's the normal market size, ie the maximum amount of shares that market makers will automatically offer a spread on. If you try and buy a larger amount online, it won't go through - but you can ring your broker you will call the market maker direct and get a quote to buy/sell a larger number of shares.

Hi W Oracle
O/T:
Thinking of getting back in govt.-backed CBI myself. During the almost year long slide of China blue chips the Chinese investors all tip to only buy and hold Chinese companies with government backing and sit in no fear. They must know their politics and how things tick over in China.
Why is it that there are consistantly so many buys of 125 AEP shares?

PAV, not at the moment. Results of all palm companies have been good and well flagged. So there wont be any surprises there..actually I dont rate MPE as much as the other 3. Their operating performance simply isnt as good and underlying growth is often obscured/flattered by asset sales and exceptionals. The cattle business maybe something for the future but at the moment isnt really performing.

PP, welcome from the CBI board .. better late than never ;) Pity noone else on there heeded my suggestions 14 months ago to play biodiesel via AEP. Strangely enough, I've now got a punt in CBI after waiting for 18 months for the right price. But you have made the right choice here..a real LTBH..one to accumulate on dips and ignore all the 15% wild daily swings. Its the norm.

Morning All and thanks lobby ludd for your explanation. The biofuel sector seems to be sorting and trying every which way to establish a standard yet...... Better stick with AEP's PO and traditional rubber for me.

well my chart says a 60pt rise on 1500 shares traded. Amazing. Could we have 15,000 traded tomorrow and we should have an share price north of 1000p.

ppowerscourt - 'Is biodiesel related to palm oil and/or AEP ?

AEP grows palm oil, which can be used to produce biodiesel, but currently isn't in any great quantity. It is used in foodstooffs, detergents and cosmetics etc. Palm oil competes with other vegetable oils eg. rapeseed in its markets. They are increasingly used for biofuel, which increases their price, and indirectly that of palm oil which benefits AEP. Though, the use of palm oil to produce biodiesel is increasing as some countires eg. Thailand and Malaysia specify its inclusion in diesel.

Melodious music to my ears.... Thx.

Mel, may I ask a basic question please? Is 'biodiesel' related to palm oil and/or AEP? 'cause I used to, a year ago, own an IPO Chinese biodiesel plc, CBI, which grows and processes palm oil in FuJian Province, China. I sort of liked their location for palm oil plantation and the fact that their processing plants use procured waste oil as well with their patented 'waste oil' technology. But their share price has been on freefall almost. Results out today at 15.5p, profitable and in situ factories going well. Don't know if it's the Chinese effect or what? TIA.

Sorry for O/T.

pp - its over the place with AEP. just depends how the market makers react to the odd trade going through. looks like we may have turned a corner today though - or has someone got a sniff of the strong figures which we will get shortly I guess.
