Celeritas, your post and others sum up the position well. There looks to have been plenty of trading volume, particularly on the sells, for Bashirov to have exited by now .. Certainly to the point where he should be disclosing his Holding now. There are just not that many free-float shares to account for the volume unless someone is clearing out a position. Is anyone going to the AGM & can ask? Else I think I will write an open letter to the BOD and their advisers requesting some clarification. That aside, we get ever closer to the Q3 and the anticipated startup of the up-scaled flotation plant. The heap leaches should now be plenty warm enough to be producing at their higher summer rates.

Lack of transparency makes this company hard to invest in.
No holdings statement with recent volume surely enough to clear Bashirov, looks like smoke and mirrors to me.
I'm sure you all have your theories as to whats going on, interesting to watch anyway.

It is difficult to know the motives of the seller, and why they are taking the opposite position to Reza Vaziri.Perhaps the recent devaluation of the manat has unfortunately impacted the financial position of certain holders, and they now need to liquidate what they have, whether they want to or not.

Agree jb2, nor is it practicable to short a stock with a £4m free float.

This isn't being shorted. It is a seller.
A few reasons:
There is no short declared on the list
The stock is being drip fed as buys come in, they'd drop the stock a lot quicker to drop the price quicker
There isn't a source of that much stock to buy back cheaper. We've already seen its only Cantor with any meaningful supply of stock this cheap. How would they close their position?

Mattjos, the trading volume over last few month should have triggered a holding change. Could Cantors be shorting this with Shares on loan from B. ?
If he has been selling by now he should have notified the market!
I think somebody is messing about with this companies shares.
With expected production and POG at present level we should have a gross valuation of approx $100m.
All to play for!

Captain, agree with you re Reza's stake. 2015 should be much healthier and if it isn't it'll be curtains here.
Penny stock with the inherent risk of all or nothing. I've followed Reza's cash and now own over 1%.

Matt

IMO the situation in Greece is a lose lose and frankly I really don't see how the EU can afford to cave into any demands, otherwise other periphery countries will start electing anti austeriry parties and we will be on the brink of another euro crisis. I don't think its that the EU leaders have more to lose from a GREXIT than Greece, it's just that they are behaving properly in a tempered manner whereas this syriza party is playing fast and loose with someone elses money!

The really sad thing about it is that Greece was just turning the corner when Syriza came in, the economy had just ended recession and I expect things may have started to look more rosey. Then comes Syriza and this mayhem, we'll see the damage when the Q2 growth figures some in!

But with regards to AAZ, I currently have an av of 36p (so perhaps I should lay off the economic advice) seriously considering topping up (love to throw good money after bad), main driver for this is the massive stake the CEO ptut forward in giving a $4m unsecured loan, that took balls and he is clearly still confident despite where we are today. Upside potential here is massive, downside is 100% fall as we go post. A real penny share this one!

Hats off to the Greek politicians. The rest of the EU seems to me to have significantly under-rated their negotiating skills & their brinkmanship.Christine Lagarde reports today she is confident they can pay by Friday and as soon as they leave the meeting in Brussels they now say they will not pay by Friday but, roll the debts up to end of June. Their negotiating has eeked the problem out now since their election. Slowly the rest of Europe seems to giving more and more ground to them. Any qualified negotiator will know that if the other party is giving up ground to you then, you simply keep pushing for more and more and more .. The message from Europe looks to be that they need the deal as much as, if not more, than Greece does.None of which will actually solve the problem since the next tranche of funds will merely be used to pay off further debts later this year. It's a total nonsense but, a great case to follow and learn from.

I have been adding in small lots....And will keep doing that for a wile yet. AGM end of June, we should get a clear direction from then.

Best to average in while the seller is providing the liquidity. My approach anywY.Around this level seems very cheap but, won't complain if it gets cheaper

These are great opportunities to make some money when there is a large seller lingering for months. The value is clearly the risk is more than priced in at this share price. Once he is cleared it will jump 50% in one day. The trick of course is timing it to buy at the bottom.

That late reported 850K from yesterday matched the 900k of buys from the day as a whole.Certainly looks like Cantor have been given the job of selling up ... I don't recall them even being an MM here before Bashirov started selling. As when they have completed for him it will be interesting see if they hang about as an MM beyond that date or, disappear completely. At this current rate he should be finished up in a week or two

Mattjos, yes that looks what is going on and keeping price down...
He must be at the end now.
There was a deal for 3.5m in one lot a wile back. Then 4 lots of 1m changed hands just before the 4m $ loan from Mr.Vaziri, 850000 yesterday. plus smaller sizes trades gone over time...
I would expect any time a market notification to say he no longer has a holding in AAZ.
We wait and see....
"If MM are making shares available without a seller, then on good news they would have to cover their position....and if that is the case they would be squeezed to hell by the market."
