It was not that long ago that TW was advising you to take profits in AAZ ! I take what he says with a pinch of salt. DYOR . Today's rise is nothing more than MM's moving things up in anticipation of early morning buys. I suspect price will move down later. We still await the news that will hopefully propel these upwards. Hopefully it should be with us soon !!

Well, what a surprise, AAZ has gone up at last and,, Tom W tipping it as well. Didn't know he was still around, after so many bad tips thought he would have retired by now. I remember him from the 90's when you could tip anything and it would go up. You could buy anything then and it would go up 50% in the first week. Yes Working lunch on BBC2 was where our Tom use to be.

With BUR I think it helps to understand the trading psychology behind the MW short.
BUR had risen from around £1 to £20 over 8 years with barely a wobble. But, it was the only stock on the entire market where every institution that held it had a position bigger than its market weighting. In other words, the holders were entirely people in profit, mostly substantial profits, and those who were overweight in it. (The latter point might sound obvious but isn't. Most UK funds will have weightings in some companies below their index weighting).
In addition, Woodford and Barnett were both big holders whose funds were in trouble. Sio when MW announced its short, there was very little support. Everyone who had looked at BUR already had more of it than they "should", and those who had looked at BUR and thought it was "too difficult to understand" were hardly likely to buy in after the MW attack.
But in the end, its business model is simple. It funds plaintiffs bringing litigation. In return, it takes the costs of the litigation and around 30% of the amount awarded by the court. As long as litigation continues to exist and as long as BUR win more cases than they lose, they will make substantial profits. But they never generate much cash, because as soon as they win a case they use the proceeds to fund the next set of cases. So an analogy would be our share portfolios: when we sell a share we buy another one. Would you say that means we are generating no cash or would you look at the valuation of the portfolio?
This has created a clear case of a stock being misplaced. I think over the next 6 months it will treble.

many thanx DP, cheers Wan :-)

I get the gist of it; but, I'd need to be KS to understand the financial blurb surrounding it... :-)

KS, have you ever looked at it ?

Might be worth you reading the post,,, if you do, please let us know if you see any red flags there :-)

Cheers

Funny how a TW tip moves the market, but a detailed broker note from Hardman doesn't!

18892, not sure where it came from but covers the bull case pretty clearly
also, in the mega case v Argentina Skaddens have stepped down from acting for the Argies. They are a very, very good firm, to step down when the going is getting hot can only be good for Bur.

I would think that Cyprus is worth a look as it is identical to what they have at gedabek, lots of vms lenses at shallow depth that have been mined for millenia, the geology is the same and their experience in starting with a cheap and cheerful heap leach and moving on to more serious kit is perfect, They could buy a stake in chf or jv or buy some prospects similar to gedabeck for peanuts ...

Interesting timing by TW,, could have put it out before exdiv date and new buyers would have got the divi,,, the cynical part of me thinks he/they bought up to that date and now want the stock higher so they can take their profits along with the divi,,, a short term play for them,,,, but who knows :-) GLA Cheers Wan :-)

Tom is better at finding the bad companies that are out there.
Can't remember many of his buy tips being very good.
But its better him saying buy than sell.

I had a couple of friends contact me about AAZ over the weekend. There are a lot of technical traders waiting to see if it can break through here. If it can get to 150 there should be quite a swift move up.
