Coronavirus patients on ventilators are unusually likely to die, causing some doctors to change strategy - Mechanical ventilation may be causing more damage than expected in those with Covid-19

Ventilators are being sourced and stockpiled across the world — but some working on the front lines of the coronavirus epidemic are now wondering whether they might do more harm than expected.

A recent report from the NHS shows that over 67 per cent of coronavirus patients put on ventilators go on to die. Normally, around 40 per cent of patients would be expected to die while receiving mechanical ventilation.

This unusually high death rate has also been shown in the US: on Wednesday morning, the Associated Press reported that around 80 per cent of coronavirus patients put on ventilators in New York go on to die, according to state and city officials.

Bumps, some while ago I read in Azari News that they wanted to open a gold refinery there. They want to increase there jewelry industry.
It has been around 9 months now and we have had no news from the Co regarding the PSA etc.
It has also made me think why the Co has not released any JORC and LOM news !!
They are sitting on a fair amount of cash as well. No news about expanding the mining base on their great discoveries made !! Yes it does at times make me a bit nervous. I have 70% of my portfolio in AAZ. Then I have to remind myself that the BOD hold around 40% of the Co. That is one reason i have not sold any of my shares.
News due this coming week so wait and see what news the Co gives us.
I am just thinking aloud.
Wan YIKES !! LOL. Let's see what this new week brings us. I feel in a way that I am deramping my largest holding !!
NAI and ATB.

Wan i could think of more scary things than the stock market, like my cousin telling me not one person that has gone onto a ventilator in the ward she works on, has so far survived being put under. Hmmm.

Long before that Rb - there’d be a point when the only thing you’d want to be holding is the physical - no etfs’s, no paper, no contracts and precious few miners.

I hope that day doesn’t come, but those who call the insane - or not so insane? - targets on gold often seem to not get or at least not advertise the fact, that everything else would be moving, falling, coming apart at the seams, with it.

Or in other words - at what point would a rocketing gold price stop being a good thing?

Wan I spent a bit of time looking at my AAZ average, with all my recent purchases, it’s now gone up to 23.4p across all my accounts; no doubt the dividend will bring it back down substantially. Feel quite calm myself being very overweight AAZ, better still since 2018 they have always been in a ISA or SIPP.

Also got a pretty large stake in Gran Colombia with an even better average of about 12c through trading. Not bragging or feeling smug, that’s just my way of managing risk. Few other smaller stakes but it’s the gold miners I’m substantially overweight in, none more so than AAZ.

Wan, a good reason not to be over weight in any particular share , no matter how good the company .

yep, I know cmb, I know,,, and you are 100% right in my book,,,, in many ways I'd have preferred the share price to be where it is today on the back of the cancer treatments,,, I feel it would be a lot more solid and secure,,, but, we are where we are and cv19 has come along,,, so let's see what happens,,, in my opinion the share price will drop now if the cv19 test doesn't come off,,,, but, will rise again to these levels and much higher if the cancer trials go well.... :-).... we can only play the game that's in front of us and that game has been changed dramatically by cv19.... :-) Cheers Wan :-)

Wan,I did tell you once that I did not invest in biotech,I did not buy into AVCT because of this virus. I bought into it because they have a very different tech to other Co,s.
I invested to hold, not to trade.
As you know most of my other holdings are in gold.
Anyway you are in the driving seat now.
ATB.

Trying to catch up on AAZ. The license renewal would seem to be the main issue along with LOM. Would that be correct or is there another issue currently (beyond COVID)?

Thanks

agreed Rb,,,, 100%,,,, but,,,, having spent the whole day looking into cv19 testing, once again :-) LOL, doh Wan!!!!! you are so boring right now LOL,,,, I honestly cannot see a better way forward than the AVCT/CYTIVA saliva lateral flow test,,, IF, IF, IF, IF they can get it to work!!!! and if they do, AVCT holds the IP for every manufacturer in the world to use... etc etc etc..... :-) so maybe, just maybe an investment, more than a trade and that's without considering the cancer cure potential we invested in AVCT for in the first place.... who knows,,, Cheers Wan :-)
