Homebrewrus, Think you will find that the v.a.t. on those Britannia coins is already in the price they are asking, as if and when you ever need to sell the coins you will get the price of silver at the time and not the actual coin value, so stick to buying bullion. Even with the v.a.t. it works out cheaper.

Hi. Laurence - How many yrs ago did I leave? _ sorry not allowed to mention another stock's name here, but the one quoted in your post! It was a long time ago. Alberto plods on and copper's long awaited response to the new electric world, is well still awaited. AS W.Buffet would say investing is a game of great patience. So no, I like this stock very much - oh I can say its name - Anglo Asian, but a few others as well as you gathered. Good luck.

The perils of online trading. Yesterday I set and then cancelled two price limit buys. Then did three small trades to get the stock I wanted as I couldn't buy online in anything over 3000 (H-L). This morning I find I have 5000 more than I should have in my account. I'm quite happy about it, this is the first time this has happened and plainly is due to setting price limit trades that I cancelled, but evidently the machinery didn't work as I expected it to. I just mention it as a caution to others if using a 'fill or kill' order. No they're not a free 5000, they money extraction part of the machinery is working fine!

Gold pushing upwards again I see :¬)

Australia cut interest rates & now EU expected to report they will delay their first rate rise until next year (expect that to get pushed back again later this year).
Slowly but surely the central banks are halting/reversing their efforts to raise rates … global growth is simply not strong enough to warrant rate rises. The interest payments on global debt will just choke-off any growth.
But, each time the rates fall back, corporations in particular, seem hellbent on loading up with yet more debt & using that to fund purchasing back their own equity & thereby keep management options in the money.
This is Dingle Weed farming & no good is coming to come of it.

Wan,

Woodford in top 10 read articles on bbc news

The issue is that a lot of his fund's cash was invested in unquoted companies, and to divest these holdings takes time to satisfy the cash requests from redemptions.

Could be a buying opportunity though when redemptions restored and those that wanted to sell do...as surely he will need to rethink his investment criteria now to reflect this and there could be a bargain price available for them.
personally I've always felt more comfortable and nimbler to buy/sell myself then effectively pay someone else to do so

#Plasybryn, good to see you are still lurking, and occasionally putting your head above the turret... :o), still in ATYM..?

It will be nice to see a Friday close of 100p here, after a few attempts to breach and hold onto this milestone barrier.., but that day is getting closer..!

About five years ago I bought three 1840's Victorian sovereigns as a gift to my three sons. They were raised from the shipwreck of the The Black Swan, they cost me £135 each! Now worth about £800 each.
Can I please go back in my time machine and buy a few more.

On a more successful note, I added more AAZ shares to my wife's ISA at 91.65p last week. Maybe in a year or two I will look on our AAZ shares in the same light as those sovereigns.

Yes Wan, this golden boy of the market was throwing money around like confetti.
I remember when WPCT was launched.
He has also been putting pressure on some Co,s that he invested in, to IPO as soon as they can !! He chose many wrong Co,s for his portfolio !! Shame for him and the poor people who put their money in WPCT.

All unit trust type funds can suspend redemptions. Investment trusts are a better investment vehicle for shareholders. But I guess fund managers can sneak in and hide more fees & charges in a unit trust

Good morning all.
Yes, Wan that is the one.I will have a good look at it today,I had gardening duty given to me yesterday. It has grown fast by doing take overs of two Co,s.I use Equity Development.it is a free service. I do look at some of the Co's they come out with.
They are predicting a 340% or there about growth next year.

Gold up now to $1333.45 as I post.

Woodford suspends withdrawals,,, can he do that!!?? surely if investors want their money out they must be allowed to take it ?? I guess it's all written in the small print, but that just sounds wrong to me!!!

Have a look here

There is no VAT on silver Britannia coins and they are even cheaper than silver to go.

Question for you silver coin buyers.....where would you sell them if it came time to cash in....I used to buy silver eagles just for fun to add to my coin collection but never really thought what I'd do if I wanted to sell them and wouldn't fancy doing it on eBay

Snurkle is good and trust worthy but the cheaper option is silver to go (german based). I have used multiple times with no issues. Large trust worthy company

Guys, I have been looking at KRM today. A recent IPO. Any views from others would be welcome. I have put it on my watch list. Sounds promising in this Market.

Just checked the price of Gold it has fallen a bit now at $129.50.
Good night all.
