Little top up today. Never thought I would be increasing my holdings again this price after >100% return on initial purchases(!) but strongly believe there is at least another 50% to get us to closer to 'fair value' based on current info.

Looking forward to a hopefully great 2019 for AAZ with a stronger gold price and some exciting exploration results.

Spot gold now at $1,280.

Looking at the weekly chart, the next target imo is $1300-$1310 which were supports in late 2016 and earlier this year (resistances during these periods were also similarly aligned at c$1,360)

Maybe the return of the belated Chrimbo shares rally has been largely down to pension fund rebalancing [buying to restore asset % to where was before sell off].

Whatever, gold buyers keep on buying as spot just about touched $1,280/oz.

well, i reckon that come 31dec18, the av. daily london spot fix price over q4 [aaz] will be a tad under $1,230/oz. if friday and monday [?] stay around 1270...$1,228/oz, 1229 maybe.

saw your query and looked into kitco site - historical data, then selected this load of data:



so, you can see in bottom table, the lon. fix close prices for each day in the 2018 monthly columns.....
foot of table, even gives averages:
oct. $1215
nov. $1221
dec. $1246 [prices up to 27dec; note 'empty' days 24+26 dec]

of course, these prices won't be exactly same as aaz sale ones and the xmas - new year period tricky.....which days did aaz sell on and in any case 1 ought to weigh the daily prices according to the oz sold on each day and so forth...if only you knew them. [ahhhh, those monthly aaz prod. reports of halcyon times past]
it's easy to be precise as opposed to accurate.
to be accurate usually takes a little graft ..... or help from old pal xcel spreadsheet or whatever.
a friend you can dump on is a friend indeed!

you might compare the q3 av. gleaned from this table with the q3 given by aaz [i'd look in the q3 prod. rns].
to extent they equate, can have confidence in the q4 estimate.

Anyone know a site that shows what the average gold price in dollars per oz for q4 this year so far, can't seem to find data using what google brings up, thanks in advance.

thanx bwana, yes I've learnt many things from you and I think your approach is good, buy as the winning investment keeps rising rather than averaging down on a loser & hoping for a reversal.. HAYD is on my watch list thanx to you and is an intriguing play,,,,, like you I will be looking for it to break the current down trend and start to move up before considering an investment,,,,,, but, it is very interesting to see the rise today with no news.... if news comes tomorrow I'd suggest it's leaky... lets see, cheers Wan

Wanobi.I don't know HAYD as I only put it on my watch list a few days ago. So I am very clueless about it at the moment. Like I said I have put a few Graphene Co's on my watch list.
I just try and keep a look out for small punts like I did today with GMS as well.
If I see any Co's that show interest to me they go on my watch list. I then pick the odd one that meets my requirements,I invest in it a small way, bit at a time.
Prime example was AAZ for this year.I just kept topping up as it went up all the way to 95P.
Over the years it has payed off very well doing things this way with,FXPO,GLEN,HOC,etc,etc.
God how time has flown by !! I usually pick one that I invest heavily in. PAYS,PFC, and now AAZ are examples for the past few years. I don't go in big at the start.
I always top up on the way up.This is the best strategy that suites me.I feel it is safer playing this way.AIMHO of course. We all play this game in our own ways. I think I play it the safer my way. I hope you learn something from me?

Wanobi, I checked HAYD today there was no RNS from the Co.but a lot of buying by small PI's. Perhaps they know someting that I don't ?
There was the previous RNS regarding the AGM. All resolutions passed.Why the buying then?? I have no idea at all !!

Wanobi, a little spike does not mean it will continue. I like to see an uptrend formed
like it has on GMAA, though it has fallen back a bit today.
A month or 6 weeks trading history usually gives me the hint. I usually look for stock that has a good chance that may start to rise or is already in an uptrend.
Hence my bet in GMS today. One fund is dumping and another one is buying.I do these kind of trades to win some spending money, after doing my DYOR etc.
An RNS from GMS, that they have agreed new Bank Covenant Terms will get it to move fast upwards.
(I don't think the Banks will pull the plug on GMS).
So that is when I take profits or top slice. It all depend on the Co. I have taken a punt on.I keep between £5/10 K to play with,this way.I put £4K @10.65P this morning in GMS.

What a strange coincidence, I was next door in Wimate and yes diesel was about 50p a litre with extra tax. Some things are still the same. If not for red tape would still be there instead of this dead whole.
