23/1/2018 23:45 | 01/17/2018 | 07:02pm GMTIn 2018, shares in Anglo Asian Mining Plc (LON:AAZ) almost doubled, and with a recent push up to 40p, that momentum looks set to carry on well into 2018, APA-Economics reports quoting foreign media. There are several reasons for this price strength, but the central one is that Anglo Asian has been expanding operations at its three mines in Azerbaijan. "We have been extremely busy on the ground in Azerbaijan in regards to exploration,' says chief executive Reza Vaziri. 'We recently reported increased production for quarter three of 2017 with the commencement of mining at Ugur. Having spent time in 2017 optimising the extraction of gold and gold-copper ores from the Gedabek open pit, we now look forward to recommencing mining to contribute to production in the first quarter of 2018 with the enhanced knowledge of the mineralisation that these exploration activities will provide. We are also increasing the capacity of our tailings dam to support the expansion." (c) 2018 Azeri-Press agency (APA) Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. 23/1/2018 18:29 | puntogt .. there is a 'parallel' market in this stock that is traded during the regular auction periods intra-day and start/end of the day. That market is not one that the normal online PI can easily get into or, not unless you are prepared to call your broker and specifically instruct them and pay a whole load more for the trades they execute for you. Buyers and sellers give an indication during these auctions of their intent and willingness to transact with each other. When that is apparent, the MM's do their best to converge the open market price towards where the 'parallel' market price is during the auctions. If that price is lower than where we, as the troublesome and irritating private investor thinks the price should be then, the MM's simply throttle back the online buying limits and force you to negotiated trades or 'At Best' .. which they know most PI's don't like doing as the result is unpredictable. since there is evidence here just now of buyer and seller wanting to match up at around the 42-43p level, that is where the MM's have taken the price to, to try and facilitate that & so that is why the two more dominant MM's in the stock (CFEQ & SCAP) have been camped on the Offer but, won't let you buy any in size just now. They are only willing to dribble out the scarce stock they do have in 10k parcels. when the small PI buying pressure starts up & folk become aware the stock is once again tight the MM's shut it down completely and still try to hold the price if they can for the next auction. They will argue that they are doing what they can to make a market and match buyer to seller but, for us, it is a fix as we are denied the opportunity to trade in size at a favourable price. I decided 2 years ago here that I was just going to buy in smaller sizes than usual and accept a higher cost in broker fees but, that the long term opportunity was worth doing so. Does that help? | mattjos
23/1/2018 18:06 | Jim Rickards still banging the $10,000 gold drum:- | brasso3
23/1/2018 17:56 | Re they did everything.... What incentive would the MM's have for holding the price down ? I don't understand these games / strategies. | puntogt
23/1/2018 17:17 | basem1 .. am with what is now iii. maybe you enquired to sell when it was already offering me a sell price. Anyway, moved ahead now | mattjos
23/1/2018 15:33 | Mattjos, may I ask which broker your with, I've tried a 40,000 dummy sell with useless iii and I'm being qouted 41.87p not 42.5+ | basem1
23/1/2018 13:52 | they did everything they could to make this look weak yesterday and suck in as many sellers as they could .. didn't get many though, as it was bought on the increased liquidity during the day. now max 10,500 available online to but, can sell 40K+ at 42.55p MM's are just holding it here, with restricted online stock to enable the buyer to get his fill in the auctions Every time they run this exercise some folk who are trying to trade it a bit are getting progressively locked out the market. Don't understand why they are even trying below 60p | mattjos

22/1/2018 22:07 | Rodney? :0) Guess the evolving measured resource picture will drive the nature/timing of plant expansion but could be the reverse also plays out. Imagine if say the Ugur [or similar] reserves double and AISC stays ~$600/oz. AAZ could comfortably fund extensive exploration + substantial modular plant expansion over next 2 years, all from net cashflow, + still pay down all remaining debt. Plenty time/$$ to gear up for copper/sulphide rich production. | 2sporrans
22/1/2018 22:02 | Hold your nerves boys,50p soon. | abbotslynn
