Excellent points Fevertree - I concur.

One hopes that AGL can secure one or more deals in the near term to give some support, but, AN needs to be in a different role and there certainly needs to be far greater accountability. Just look at the manner in which he arrogantly talks about only wanting certain types of shareholders, those in it for decades and with negligible regard for financial motive since he thinks his personal finances are secure - the chap needs to realise that investors are not in it to back his personal legacy or whatever he thinks is in it for him.

No doubt you are vastly experienced & can tick the following boxes: corproate governace best practice; serving or former NED at listed company ; eexcutive managemetn exeprience in the sector and at a listed company......If so then you would not be blathering nonsense so |I'm guessing its no ticks in any of those boxes

Before FDA my concerns were the same 1. Board composition 2. Commercial strategy
Why would I be a long term investor here if I didnt believe we'd get FDA approval? I never thought it wouldnt get approved -my concerns have always been was AN et al capable of commercialising matters and getting on with the task of building the business. And that on the judgement of the market is where the jury is very much out I'm afraid. Newlands cannot continue to promise jam tomorrow : he's been in charge for long enough to know that he is not running a not for profit nor is he runnig a research institute. There seems no unrgency to bulk up the managemetn team and the only new arrival of any note left in pretty short order. The questions remain:
"Is AN capable and willing to listen to advice?", "Is he being properly advised, and if so by whom?", "is he capable of working collaboratively given he has been one man band for so long" So far we havent had any encouragement that this is happening

FTM. Before FDA you never claimed failings of AN or the board, you just kept harping on that Parsortix would never get FDA approval. Now that doesn't work anymore as an argument, you just keep deriding the board. You are so transparent as well as boring

If i was Grail I'd take them out .. on a Strategic move ...To hedge the Illumina deal .... BG being one of there main shareholders to boot ..... U see over 30 percent is controllable..The rest high wealth individuals would take the low ball offer ...2.50 ..... AN would have no say !!

I have been pointing out the dreadful corporate governance here ad nauseam. If Newlands wants to get proper credibility then the board needs a full refresh:
1. Best governance is not having a chairman since 2007
2. Best govcernance is proper alignment between NEDs and s/holders. There is very little skin in teh game from the NEDs.I think I'm right in saying one of them has no shares at all
3. Best governace is proper challenge to the executive - this is clearly not happening
4. Best governace is having the appropriate skill sets around the table to support the executive - the board is woefully underpowered given teh company's ambitions, and US orientation.

The advisers really need to pull their fingers out and force change

One issue which needs addressing is the lack of scrutiny of the the CEO’s performance by the Board of Directors. The Chairman has held his position since 2007. 9 years is the norm under corporate governance best practice rules. I just wonder how much independent scrutiny there is of AN’s performance? Didn’t stop him picking up a bonus last year of about 100% of base salary. I bet he gets a similar bonus this year for getting FDA approval and getting the capital raise away. Only good thing is that some of his LTIP awards are about to expire worthless, but I’m sure the remuneration committee will award him some more based on the achievements to date. Just don’t look at the share price!
