An even more promising story on the blog now keith:- "Khansaheb Sykes deliver dewatering pumps in Abu Dhabi for Wellpoint Dewatering to allow infrastructure works to be excavated for a new city development. Khanshaheb Sykes scope of work at the project was only to deliver dewatering pumps, as the main contractor was using a trenching machine as the dewatering solution at the project. Khansaheb Sykes to date have supplied in excess of 100 dewatering pumps to the project...." Https://www.khansahebsykes.com/blog/

Khansaheb blog looks promising even though their profits were down in the first half. Delivering the 'first batch of 15 dewatering pumps'. I presume that means 15 are the first batch which would mean a very sizeable order.

Looked at the late trades yesterday, 3 matched pairs of trades each over 5,000 shares but no MM margin (ie prices were the same for each pair). No quite sure what that means?

Well, you can never tell with this one, they may go to 550-600 again, who knows?

I did think of buying back but could only buy a few at 6.66 ...and it was only to be the only person in history to have day traded ASY successfully 🙂

Sorry my mistake. That's a bit unusual but worth running off with the money as you say. You may be able to buy back much cheaper if you fancy it although you sound as though you've got quite a few anyway.

My sale was yesterday Keith...couldn’;t resist it ..pure luck as part of my daily routine is to sample liquidity here as ASY behaves v oddly in my experience...saw 6.80 bid fiddled around to find out max size they’d take and then ran off with the money

Did you sell before the results were announced or just after? I see there was another trade of 5k+ at about the same price/time. Perhaps they were the same shares or perhaps they spiked around results time?? Anyway, a good price to sell, but I am hoping they will get gooder.

Good sale but as you sold them , someone bought them from you so there was a buyer in some shape or form

Theses shares can move a lot at any time. To be honest I wad quite happy about the second half doing well but thought the first half might not be brilliant especially as the so called beast from the east lasted only a week. Very pleased with first half figures. Would hope for year end esp of 40 to 45p now.

There is a bit of buying interest today. Ive unloaded near the offer but have a larger position I will leave running. Its going to be 9 months before we get another set of results and I am not sure how bored people will get in the meantime

These results are good to the half-year period ending 30th. June. The summer extreme weather and record-breaking heat-wave months of July and August are still to show up in their figures but this gives a strong hint: "Outlook Trading in the third quarter to date has continued to be positive. Europe has experienced strong trading results through the summer months as a result of continued high demand for air conditioning products. Once again activity in the Middle East has remained consistent through the summer period. The board remains cautiously optimistic that the Group will have further success in the remainder of the year." Strong half-year results PLUS a VERY UPBEAT/POSITIVE/STRONG OUTLOOK for rest of year. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

In theory deals could be made here? Though that might be a problem with AISAs/SIPP S.

Yes I almost never buy stocks with a spread of over 5% This is not always easy since I also tend to prefer small and mid caps. I made an exception with ASY because I intended to be a long term holder. The free float here is by my figures about 8% and that does mean stock is not always easy to buy.

Only two market makers and a relatively small float. At a rough guess , of the 44 million shares in issue approximately 85% are held by the Family that own Sykes . Restricts stock available in the open market.

I just wondered if anyone could tell me why the spread is always so big on these shares?

I ought to confess to taking 1/3rd of my stake off the table today. Rest being held until the finals next year at which point I'll see if the weather can held them build on top of tough comps (I hope!) or not
