to my mind the results will say:

doing better than expected on set-tops.
but right-offs on some other products.
So not sure what bottom line will be.

Any ideas?

At least you can read what people are writing.
For what its worth.

Cheers John

amt,

last dec enjoyed a golden cross. Jan this year enjoyed massive buildup of volume coupled to strong rise.

now consolidating at psychological 200p. it is calming down as it consolidates but i suggest the way is up from here.

Good to see this over £2. Would like to buy some more prior to results, at an opportune time when the spread is behaving !

Have a good weekend.

Amstrad plans for HDTV
Consumer electronics manufacturer Amstrad is looking to
developments in HDTV and IPTV to expand its market share.
The company has begun to work on designs for both HDTV
boxes and HDTV PVR boxes. Although Thomson has the initial
contract to supply BSkyB with receivers for its HD service,
Amstrad has agreed to work on a new PVR unit for Sky that
will be available after June 2006. Amstrad sold significant
volumes of receivers to Sky Italia as the broadcaster moved
to the NDS VideoGuard conditional access system.

Scottsdale, AZ, January 23, 2006: According to In-Stat reports, worldwide
shipments of digital cable TV set-top boxes are set to grow for the second
consecutive year, for the first time since 2000-2001. Market growth, In-stat
reports, is being fueled by sustained North American demand for advanced
"high-end" digital cable set top boxes that include PVRs and/or high
definition capability, coupled with modestly increasing demand in Asia.

"Demand for all types of digital cable set top boxes, especially in
North America and China, is going to remain quite strong in 2006 and
2007," commented Mike Paxton, In-Stat Analyst. "This bodes well for cable
set top box manufacturers."

Worldwide unit shipments reached 12.2 million in 2005, up from
10.8 million in 2004. For the first time in the history of the market,
shipments of advanced digital set top boxes exceeded basic digital
box unit shipments in 2005.

mes,
IMHO, the rise should not be particularly related to results. What Amstrad needs is for the SET TOP market (and PHONE market) in general to be perceived as a growth industry.

My brokers reckon interims coming Wednesday 22nd February. Anybody else able to confirm. If date is correct then we should see bull positions being taken out during next few days. In this sort of market I would not be at all surprised to see last year´s high of 225p challenged before the actual announcment. And if we get a special dividend of say 50p per share then who knows where the price is headed!!!

I keep dreaming of the £10 a share but I guess for the time being £5 is more likely over a reasonable period providing the "whole industry" is as rosy as it appears.

Agreed, the 200p mark seems to be a barrier - at the moment.

A few days above that level, so the limit sellers have left should, hopefully, enable a sustained rise to a new level.

Also noticed an Emailer (presumably old one) being sold in Tesco's yesterday for £9.99 (1/2 price).

superdealer,

That's a good analogy.

My feeling is that this wants to go up and I'm very happy to be holding.

I feel as if I am a mountaineer with my fingers clinging to the ledge marked 200p. Every time I feel I've got a good grip my fingers get sweaty and I fall back to the bigger, safer ledge marked 190p.

Hear that the Beeb will be broadcasting Alan's Apprentice Mk 2 in the not too distant future - wonder if this will have a positive impact on the SP?
