Came up on my PAS screen too, so I've put some into my model portfolio at www.SmallCapValue.co.uk and also hold some personally. Speculative, but bal sheet strength limits downside.

Regards, Paul.

Thanks EI . Wikipedia suggests "The number of global IPTV subscribers was expected to grow from 28 million in 2009 to 83 million in 2013" .

The question is, I suppose, can Amino keep a stable market share as the market grows (and the big boys become more interested)- if so then all the better.

My personal feeling is all TV is eventually going to be IPTV (in the same way all fixed phone is going to end up being VOIP ). Once we have sufficient speed internet going into houses, there's little reason to retain a proprietary cable system, or expensive satellites. IP will become the delivery mechanism of choice.

Well marl it may be worth forming a view on the future prospects for IPTV,
not qualified to comment on that myself.

Hi holders. Amino has come up on one of my screens, and looks pretty good:

1.) Strong balance sheet (1/3 of market cap in cash)
2.) Growing earnings (projected 5p eps this year)
3.) Undemanding valuation for this growth (p/e prospective of around 11)
4.) High margins (any increase in sales flows through to the bottom line pretty easily)

It also seems to be very dull (note lack of posts on this board). I like this!

Any posters have any opinions/details they could share?

A new live media gateway combining pay-TV security with exciting Android OTT capabilities is being showcased by Cambridge UK technology company Amino Communications in Las Vegas from October 24-26.

Visitors to the Amino stand at TelcoTV 2012 can see the new device in action showing how content from a range of sources – including the open Internet – is formatted into a high quality televisual experience for TV, tablets and smartphones.
The device also delivers 3D gaming, user generated content plus on-demand and traditional broadcast.

Amino, a leader in IPTV/OTT solutions, says the live media gateway is the first hybrid/OTT media gateway to be powered by the new Intel® Atom™ CE 5300 media processor.

This combines dual core processing power with a range of new enhanced transcoding and encoding capabilities with multi-screen distribution to deliver content seamlessly to TVs, smartphones and tablets around the home.

Now the product has been enhanced – with a secure Linux environment, based on Amino's proven Aminet software stack, for the delivery of payTV video, and a controlled Android virtual machine to support a wide range of OTT applications and services.

The device will utilise the unparalleled hardware virtualisation features available in the Intel® CE5300 SoC to run multiple virtual machines at full speed.

By combining trusted and secure Aminet performance – and Android's proven global apps development environment – operators can benefit from dramatically reduced development time and cost in deploying a multi-screen experience by leveraging the same app store environment across mobile, tablet and TV, according to Amino CEO Donald McGarva.

"We're seeing a number of Android-based set-top boxes coming to market but concerns remain from pay-TV content owners around security with a general unwillingness to provide certification," he said.

"This new version of our media gateway product meets this issue head on – with our Aminet Linux-based software stack providing reassurance based on a 10-year plus heritage of delivering secure pay-TV services plus all the apps and OTT content development opportunities from the global Android community.

"Combined with the powerhouse dual core performance of the Intel® Atom™ CE 5300 media processor, we now have a premium product that aligns perfectly with market demand for flexible – but secure – content multi-screen delivery.

"This will also allow operators to replicate success seen in mobile app stores to create new revenue generating opportunities through the combination of secure pay TV delivery and access to a worldwide community of apps developers. Operators will be able to evolve their own platform seamlessly in-house via the readily available Android developer pool."

Besides its headquarters in the Cambridge technology cluster, Amino has offices in the US, China and Sweden.

I f you want to hold a stock going nowhere, then this is the one, the most boring, inexciting share in the FTSE ALL Share index, if sales are surging why no movement, because in six months they'll be doing the opposite!

guys

I have been watching Amino for a while and the consensus seems to be that it has solidified its place in a fast growing market. I like Cambridge tech shares and this one seems to be performing well at the moment. I have had my fingers burnt before by chip makers (Wolfson) who are at the whim of overseas markets. Any reason to believe that Amino is different

Amino showcases new multi-screen media gateway at NAB 2012
16 Apr 2012

(NAB 2012, Las Vegas) Amino Communications is demonstrating its broad range of innovative IPTV/OTT and hybrid/OTT solutions at NAB 2012 in Las Vegas this week.

In line with the show's "The Great Content Shift" theme, Amino is showcasing a range of products designed to deliver content from a range of sources to create a rich entertainment experience for consumers.
Visitors to Amino's booth - #N3719-8 in North Hall, Amino – can see demonstrations of the new Amino Freedom Live media gateway - the first hybrid/OTT media gateway to be powered by the new Intel® Atom™ Processor CE 5300 SoC.

This new device – launched at CES in January - combines dual core processing power with a range of new enhanced transcoding and encoding capabilities with multi-screen distribution to deliver content seamlessly to TVs, smartphones and tablets around the home.

One of the key demonstrations will feature MobiTV, Inc.'s next generation TV Everywhere offering, consisting of an Amino Freedom device integrated with MobiTV's technology platform. The MobiTV TV Everywhere Media Player and DRM solution create a secure, high-quality adaptive streaming experience while eliminating the need for managed networks.

Alongside the Freedom range, Amino will also be demonstrating its Aminet IPTV/OTT product portfolio highlighting how network operators and service providers can seamlessly deploy OTT content alongside their existing IPTV service.

Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: "Consumers are demanding a seamless televisual experience for all their content – from whatever source. We'll have a range of solutions to ensure service providers can deliver these exciting new services, delivering OTT content alongside more traditional entertainment, including innovative new multi-screen capabilities."

NAB 2012 runs from April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
