a Q - if we are at the top spot of a continuation and the oil flows up - we should be sticking as many holes into it as possible. we would be getting most of the oil - from the neighbouring lower fields as well. is that so? does oil migrate up (pushed by the water) and how fast? which would make our CPO 5 real a sweet spot and enlarge the potential even further.

does it work or not? why?

Worth a look, as it seems no one was really after the heavy oil leases, so the bid was on the basis of works carried out and the initial investment expected. In 2007 it was average of $5.3m per block.

In 2008 in the first round 43 blocks were offered and the second bid round was December 2008 but only half the blocks even attracted bids. Overall 48 blocks were eventually awarded including CPO-5 on the basis of $300m so around $6m per award. Overall that year 100 blocks were awarded, but CPO-5 was one that ONGC bid for with initial investment guarantee of around $6m.

ONGC struck lucky as it was always considered a heavy oil potential area, not light oil and no one had apparently undertaken under drilling, which ONGC did with Mariposa-1.

Lucy. Why would I bother to filter you when you make yourself look bad. Just cut the personal comments, it serves no purpose. I don't believe it does you any favours and nor does it add to the sum knowledge about Amerisur.

Under the circumstances though I believe it demonstrates the comment about JW's being instrumental in the success at CP0-5 seems far fetched, as they could have bid for it, or farmed in to it if he felt that sure of finding light oil in a block no one else and not even the ANH seemed to believe had any.

Even the presentation doesn't seem to consider the case for light oil.

Amerisur were considered 'unrestrictive operator for the purposes of the mini ronda 2008. Before that I don't believe they could bid directly, but had to farm in? (stand to be corrected though).

Financial statement requirement would not even have been required for ONGC.

The main criterion were : participation in production (x%)
Secondary tie breaker: Additional investment in exploration.

Assume they've used the main drilling rig to complete Indico...... it was already on test before they started rigging down

roger that tgg. Not sure if they are using a workover rig to complete wells? If not bringing one in could speed things up.

xxnjr,

Plenty of scope to reduce drilling times as they get used to the geology. Not saying the next few wells will be TD'd any quicker, but no real reason why they shouldn't halve drilling times with practice

as I use charts a fair bit I think a range of 15-20p broadly speaking looks likely for the foreseeable future, based on previous long term chart levels.

.....Depends what you mean by "foreseeable future". If that's the end of next month (Feb) you may be right.... if you can see ahead to the Summer, your suggested range could look a bit silly... happily ;-#))

"Spud" rns to "td/we have pay" rns

Mariposa-1 37 days
Indico-1 40 days

"pay" rns to "DST Flow Rates" rns
Mariposa-1 26 days
Indico-1 23 days
===================
Total: 63 days both wells.

Pleased (not a little surprised too) to see the recent recovery here off the lows of late last year. I wouldn't expect to see that retested, but as I use charts a fair bit I think a range of 15-20p broadly speaking looks likely for the foreseeable future, based on previous long term chart levels. Good luck to all as always.

But not because I became a Chartered Accountant over 50 years ago ;-)

Knackers I was thinking mid March for Calao-1 result. Anytime in Feb would be fantastic. If we get an RNS for the spudding tomorrow, what is physically possible when it comes to drilling here?

Just a thought as it would appear he's had time to offload the lot should he want to but if he is still sore about things and a billionaire we could be a mere toy
