When is payment due to shareholders?

Judging my experience its more likely the low vote turnout was because on line voters with nominee holders went through the motions of voting with the nominee holders taking no notice at all. When this happened to me, we were told that there was no legal obligation on the part of the nominee holder to vote how a beneficial owner instructs them.

Share groups have been complaining about this for some time

I was surprised how low at around 60% the voting turnout was. I think those saying they were voting against did so but if they subsequently sold then the registrars would have excluded the votes. Also a heck of a lot of shares were held via cfds which don't confer voting rights. Not a great outcome for shareholders but there are lots of other oily fish in the sea. Merry Christmas everyone and have a healthy and prosperous 2020.

What’s to say the “counting̶1; of votes was true and accurate
Is there any transparency to the process??

....If you have genuine concerns, why not write to the company registrar? Let us know what they have to say

....Whats with the attitude?

................No idea, you hinted the company registrar was bent

Still feel surprised but numbed by it all. Very disappointing to note how poorly the shareholders have been treated. As said a few hard lessons have been forced upon us.
One consolation is that we won`t see that dastardly 10p again.
Many thanks for all the well informed, intelligent and entertaining posts over the years. Hope to come across most of you on other threads.
Good luck. Merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year!

My greatest consolation in all this is that after 50 years of hard work in industry, at least I can look my grandchildren in the eye when they ask what I did for a living, and honestly say that not once did my income come from deception or scheming at the cost of thousand of others who put there faith in me. It is true that you cannot take it with you, and what robbers take from you will soon disperse after they are gone, leaving no legacy to praise. Bye my fellow posters.

Nothing will change as they're all too cosy with each other and all have vested interests.

The whole system is an absolute racket with no real governance. You've got brokers, institutions, boards, auditors and even the authorities all tied up with one another so there's certainly no appetite for change or to stop the gravy train.

Over the past decade alone we've seen a string of high profile failures and blatant corruption, however has anything changed ? Has it Hell, it gets a wee mention in the msm for a couple of days and then just forgotten about again until the inevitable next scandal.

We were just a mickey mouse aim listed company, so if they're unwilling to investigate or actually do anything about the big boys, you can rest assured that us, along with countless others, are not even registering on the radar.

I do think PI's are becoming much more savvy (once bitten twice shy ?), however with interest rates as they are and the property sector as it is, then there's really very little options for investment for your average punter outwith the markets.

Who knows, maybe the 2.30 at Aintree and the 5 homes on the fitba coupon are the safest option after all............

M/L, this is probably the latest case of ‘sup with wolves for long enough, and one day you become lunch’. In some ways I am already thinking that it is nice to be shot of that Board, but I think if this government and the LSE wish have a share owning democracy then they need to catch up with some new ways of running the markets which private shareholders inhabit.

Thanks for trying

Others observe disappointment at those who pledged shares here and didn't appear to vote no, but that's not cast in stone.

Although with nominee you get the opportunity to vote I believe they do not have the obligation in law to vote that way.

A few years back myself and 3 other guys had 10% of a company and we voted no via nominee holdings with two of the larger on line companies (TD) being one, when the ballot was counted it showed only 4% voted against, which was impossible. We worked it out that the only way this could occur was if the brokers and companies holding the shares had voted the way they wanted and ignored express instructions. When we enquired we were told there was no legal obligation.

Sharesure interesting comments re JW. Years ago I was invested in Emerald Energy and just after JW left I had reason to call EE and JW's name came up in conversation and the person on the other end of phone was most interested in where J W had gone, as if there was a dark cloud over his departure. Maybe a Leopard doesn't change his spots!!

Yes, a sorry end to what could have been a much, much better investment. If there is one big lesson (and there are several other observations) I take from this it is that if a Board of Directors ever tries to introduce a share option scheme where the strike price is not at a higher level than the prevailing share price then it is probably best to sell up immediately. Over the last 15-20 years there have been (in retrospect) probably other sufficiently strong pointers on this stock to give red alerts.
Reflecting on yesterday’s meetings, it just maybe that even Clarke also got outsmarted by Wardle - his absence yesterday wasn’t explained which, had it been for practical reasons could have been, may suggest that we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

Well I suppose that’s it. Sincerely hope Wardle and Clark reap their rewards for bad karma.

Thanks for your efforts on behalf of us all.

Looking at the RNS is seems that many who 'pledged' their vote to a NO, didn't after all!
Also, over a third of all shares in issue didn't vote at all (and their votes didn't revert to the BoD).

Glad the house is all but done.

Evening all, just got in and read the news, very disappointing result. Thanks to all that voted no but when your fighting your own board and major investors we don't stand much chance. Like many long termers here I will miss the banter but we have to move on.

Regards my house refurbishment well we are in, it's not complete but it's liveable for a few days until after Xmas, then another couple of weeks hard work.

Once again thanks to all, I am on Twitter if anyone is lonely!

Shooting from the hip, Lucy!

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Private Eye have him under far closer scrutiny following the various bits of information they acquired of him during this episode and added to their past files and mentions.

Not that he worries now a knighthood looks further away than ever before. But he could try for the one stripped from his old cricket buddy and fraudster, ex-Sir Allen Stanford.
