24/10/2009 20:15 | tenniselbow - 16 May'08 - 07:36 - 4316 of 5321 London Asia ( LDC ) changed there CEO and took a 3% Stake are they buying ? You tell us tennis - were they buying in May 08? | loverat
24/10/2009 20:08 | This would be hilarious if is was not so sad. In late Feb 2008 LDC took a 5% stake in DRM. You may remember that this was shortly before Allnutt officially became CEO and Littlewood had already effectively gone. Between them 'Cougar6' and 'Tenniselbow' posted on the DRM thread to say they had bought a total of 2.5m shares. I assume when they say they are buying they mean they bought on behalf of LDC as directors but failed to mention that in the posts. Unless of course these posts were lies and that individual or LDC did not buy those shares on the day in question. Whose bright idea was it to buy shares in DRM? Who authorised the transaction? And why was the below advice (to Tenniselbow) apparently ignored when it turned out to be correct (and in my view common sense advice at the time to anyone with basic investing skills) Redd - 15 Apr'08 - 11:41 - 3848 of 5321 Like most posters on ADVFN your presence here has been worthless. As for AIM, well it was started to allow risky young companies, that would never be accepted on the main market, to have access to funding and to also benefit from lower regulation and costs. Not surprisingly many of these high risk businesses are complete failures! As are you for buying them! But the question remains that if you think the market is rigged against you and you keep losing money then why do you keep doing it? And one more thing - if LDC held 5.5M as at 27/2/08 then surely there was an investment of at least £175K. Did you sell some shares and salvage something for LDC investors before DRM was suspended or did all the money go down the pan? Did you make a profit? Cougar6 - over to you. | loverat

24/10/2009 05:37 | Interesting website here. About the Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) CIB is part of the regulatory arm of the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS). Prior to the creation of BIS, it was part of the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI). Although CIB is located within the Insolvency Service, an Executive Agency of BIS, it is not limited to companies that have become insolvent. In fact, most of our investigations are into companies that are actively trading. Please see our "Frequently Asked Questions" for details of what we can and cannot investigate. The Role of CIB One of BIS's objectives is to "Deliver free and fair markets ...ensuring markets work to the benefit of business, investors, employees and consumers, and for law enforcement to deter fraud". This includes dealing with misconduct or unscrupulous practices, whether or not this amounts to fraud. CIB contributes to this objective by exercising the powers to investigate companies under the Companies Acts. When we receive information about the behaviour of a company we will assess that information to see whether or not it would be appropriate for us to attend on that company and require it to provide us with documents and information. This allows us to come to a view as to whether further action, and if so what action, is required in the wider public interest. Our approach is to take a proportionate and realistic view of issues brought to our attention, and to investigate aspects of corporate behaviour which might harm both the business community and the public generally. We also carry out a risk assessment of each case to ensure that those cases with a higher level of risk to the public are given priority. Our investigations are confidential, and that is why we do not tell complainants whether or not we are going to investigate, or, when we do decide to investigate, tell the company's directors the reasons why we are doing so or who has complained. We do not carry out criminal investigations - those are better left to other bodies such as the police or BIS's Prosecution Lawyers - though our investigations may provide the basis for a subsequent criminal enquiry. Please note that we cannot intervene in any dispute between individuals and a company, be they creditors, shareholders or the company's own management - although we may investigate the issues giving rise to the dispute if there is a wider public interest in doing so. | loverat
23/10/2009 19:14 | This is just an example of the stuff people say in the heat of the moment and try and bring race into every discussion.... tenniselbow - 29 Jul'08 - 12:16 - 4331 of 4427 If Mr Smith was black would he have won ?? Tenniselbow is no doubt referring to the case of Smith v ADVFN which he lost. Good question tennnis but to my knowledge most of the 27 defendants were white. I guess the case failed because most of the cases had little chance of success. Perhaps that's why he subsequently dropped 18 or so. By the way - do you know if Smith has received his 100K gratuity yet? And if so, who is paying it? Thanks in advance. | loverat

21/10/2009 05:47 | And deramping and ramping with a degree of success I might add.... Anomalous - 2 Aug'04 - 18:41 - 252 of 294 >User75160 I don't know if you managed to get some EPE today, but they rose a healthy 6%. Not only that, but I heard something very interesting. They found that the school they purchased had £200k more in their bank account than they had originally listed in the accounts. Talk about a good deal....£200,000 for nothing! User75160 - 3 Aug'04 - 09:16 - 28 of 329 Anomalous I've joined your party - dipped in with 50k at 0.0138, appreciated the comments, if I can return the favour then HNR or ROS (both oil stocks) are worth considering, both have huge potential to multiply in the next year. Will keep my eye on other China related investment opportunities as IMHO this is the market that will explode in the next couple of years. It is obvious that you have great knowledge in this field and I am happy to tag along if that is acceptable. | loverat
21/10/2009 05:42 | Seems like just a bit of rivalry between two competing companies as EPE and EPA were in the same field. Both companies gone now so looks like the management was equally disastrous in both. Mind you - perhaps I have underestimated their considerable talents in other areas. Not just good rampers but can turn their hand at deramping when required. | loverat
21/10/2009 05:34 | And then one of the directors of EPE/LDC (Cougar/My way) and his associates from the RSV Action Group (Anomalous and Agincourt) congregate on the EPA board for the next few years. cougar6 - 29 Sep'03 - 14:35 - 96 of 294 The company needs a new team of directors before the burn rate has gone through all there cash. companies are about leaders. My Way - 11 May'04 - 13:22 - 213 of 294 This is a dog , only hope is a take over. My Way - 11 May'04 - 14:16 - 220 of 294 Education perhaps the directors should get some in running a company for the shareholders Anomalous - 22 Jul'04 - 20:48 - 237 of 294 I don't think this will last very long either. Looking at the financials, I reckon they will have to make some contract announcement VERY soon or go under. Quite frankly, I'm amazed that they managed to keep it going this long, but you can only tighten your belt so far, before your waistline becomes smaller than your XXXX. Agincourt - 22 Jul'04 - 22:57 - 241 of 294 They are going to try to corner the market in rubbish in China. LOL Anomalous - 24 Jul'04 - 01:39 - 244 of 294 It amazes me, the directors of this company are so incompetent, that they pick one loser after another. They think a move from Hi-Tech to Education will save them. Then they invest in a school on which they can not agree terms and take on more directors (at greater cost) just to give themselves the expertise. In my opinion, they are using this company as a gravy train, lining their pockets and funding their expenses at the shareholders' expense. The only expertise these directors have is of being losers. It's time for new management. Agincourt - 25 Jul'04 - 14:39 - 245 of 294 Anomalous Too late - they are doomed. These are heading for a quick 90% fall. Anomalous - 30 Jul'04 - 20:38 - 251 of 294 >User75160 I like EPE at the moment and have held them for a couple of months. They are in the same field as EPA, but are about to start their revenue stream. Everything looks very promising indeed. The directors are extremely savvy about China and have the contacts at both end to set up a constant flow of people to their schools. On top of that, they have links with other Chinese focused companies like LDC. So these guys are not going to pick losers, only winners. I've put a small stake in them, maybe you could too? (depending on the size of your 'bundle'). Good Luck. | loverat

21/10/2009 05:16 | Seems they cleared out the remaining management...... Europasia Education PLC 01 July 2003 Europasia Education plc ('Europasia' or 'the company') announces the resignation of Peter So as a non-executive director with effect from today. Peter had been chairman of the Company when it was previously startIT.com plc and had agreed to remain on the board for the first six months following the change of the Company's investment strategy. 'I am pleased to see the progress which has been made since January of this year,' said Peter, 'and I wish the board great success. As a shareholder, I shall follow the Company's progress with keen interest.' Said Chairman, James Holmes, 'Obviously we will miss someone of Peter's talent and experience but we very much appreciated his support in our transition period and we wish him well for the future.' | loverat
21/10/2009 05:14 | After my timeline of Netvest/LDC this was how these directors became involved in COMG - formally EPE and STT. Apparently the directors running STT up to this point also ran EPA. Posted before and some of you will know the background anyway. StartIT.com PLC 09 December 2002 StartIT.com plc ('STT') today announced its intention to make a significant change of strategy and plans to complete a strategic alliance with a major shareholder, Temima Group plc ('Temima'). The strategy proposed is based on Temima's entry into the education sector via their partnership in London China Education Limited ('LCE'), a UK-based business which focuses on leveraging the strong reputation and quality of British education to exploit opportunities in the developing world. LCE has a number of projects in the pipeline including investment in well-established profitable independent schools in the UK and some exciting projects overseas, particularly in China. At the Extraordinary Resolution, it is proposed that Simon Littlewood will join the STT Board to represent Temima, with James Holmes joining to represent LCE and George Allnutt to represent netvest.com plc, while two of the existing four directors will resign. Peter So, STT's Chairman, commented, 'After a very careful examination of the options available to the Company, I am very pleased to make this announcement. I am excited at the plans and prospects which London China Education Limited can feed into the company and I am delighted that, after a very difficult period for our shareholders, we can now be confident of offering them good prospects for the future.' STT will be issuing a circular to shareholders calling for an Extraordinary General Meeting to approve resolutions to facilitate the proposed change of strategy. | loverat
