Yep funds banked now to cover drilling etc to try and get this to the vital BFS stage.

Well I re-joined the 'fun' today. Im aware of its disappointments & history & delays but hopeful of a decent recovery play; encouraged by today's RNS, for starters!

Altona Energy Plc

("Altona" or "the Company")

Update on meetings in Australia

Altona (AIM:ANR) is pleased to provide an update on recent meetings held this month in Australia. Representatives from Sino-Aus Energy Group Limited ("Sino-Aus") and Wintask Group Limited ("Wintask"), Altona's two major Asian investors travelled to Adelaide to meet with Altona's CEO, Nick Lyth and Brenton Newell, Altona's geologist.

Mr Newell presented an outline exploratory drilling proposal and Altona is pleased to be able to report that all parties agreed to proceed with the exploratory drilling phase subject to receipt of the necessary drilling permit and land access consent. The Company anticipates expanding this initial phase to ensure that all areas which potentially contain economically extractable coal will be drilled. Much of the southern part of the Westfield tenement has never been adequately explored.

The Company expects to be in a position to update the market soon regarding the timing and extent of the drilling programme. Sufficient funds to complete the exploratory phase have been transferred to Altona's Australian bank account.

Nick Lyth, CEO, commented as follows:

"I am very pleased that both Sino-Aus and Wintask, having discussed the exploration phase drilling programme with Mr Newell, have agreed with Altona that the Company should proceed as quickly as possible.

"Whilst in Australia I also met with a number of non-coal exploration companies and it has become apparent that the resource sector generally and M&A activity in particular is starting to pick-up. Projects are seeking finance and this may present Altona with opportunities in the future."

The trust just isn't there is it, so many different BOD's so many broken promises, such huge potential in the early days and now just another AIM disaster that is just paying for the BOD's lifestyle.

overheads have been cut hugely and rightly so
as stated funds will cover drilling the main point

@pembury
You need to also factor in the overhead cost of maintaining ANR. But yes, you're right. Plenty of cash in the bank.

The key here is that there is no need to be rushed into some discount retail placing. They're fine for now to let the story unfolds and then pick the right moment to plug what is a very small gap in the funding

Seismic...the strategy is to concentrate on 100m tonnes of hopefully economically extractable coal. The 7.8bn is a red herring and what's got us into this position in the first place. The vast majority of this cannot be economically extracted

Why so low? Altona has a bad rep due to previous mismanagement. Hard to make people forget about this. Seems much better now, time will tell. For sure if they can pull this off we will be all laughing here

The CEO keeps making reference to the 8bn tons of coal and the asset being world class, so why is this then sat here?. They also don't need much to get the BFS banked. Coal prices at 9 year highs and demand from China/Japan/Asia/ Aus increasing. Thermal coal that ANR are looking to prove up is around $125 per ton.

Hilarious. How many bankable feasibility studies have the BOD banked now? Its beyond suspicious that the amount spent each year (and every year for the last 6 or more years) is equivalent to the wages of the BOD.

So they only need $1.5m to complete this to BFS not $33m!!!
