@p0pper
You mean Altona should still be pursuing a CTL strategy? The vast majority of the coal is underneath aquifers that are part of the Great Artesian Basin. You can't get it out without massive technical and environmental issues
The expectation is that there is 150m tonnes of coal that is shallow enough and dry enough to be able to be dug out of the ground. With those sort of quantities CTL isn't economic due to capex costs

Me too NewKid, I still think that's the best route to go down.

Basher2. The problem with Altona or the reason we are still here is Chris Lambert. He was the CEO who got us involved with the Chinese who led us around the marry go round for 5 years. When I first invested here I thought that today I would be a shareholder in a company with it's own 3.5 billion dollar coal to liquid plant with an annual income of 1.5 billion. WTFDIK.

Yep slow beyond belief mate, however situation has changed new management and now direction. We shall see but this board would have to be stupid to sit back on this asset while thermal coal and coal in general is so in demand.

The talking is done, action now!.

In fact I remember you on the BB - I just cant understand the lack of progress on the so-called 'biggest energy reservoir on the planet'. S.Australia has an energy deficit so what the hell is this company doing with an energy rich asset in an energy deficient state that they can't actually get anything out of the ground for the use of our Aussie cousins?

What nonsense ‘not secured’ read rns and ceo Interview. The JV funding is available to ANR they can have it whenever they’re ready.

They have an MOU with the funder.

It is positive and as much as we could expect at this time but not exactly secured.

Agree. Drop overdone and seller appears out, very confident this will now move to post rns levels. Just listen to ceo interview this is very very cheap....even more so with hugh funding commitment now secured by JV partners who are fully committed.GL

Based on Whitehaven Coal, an operational coal mine of say 5m tonnes per year at Westfield would be valued today at about 40p per share. Currently valued at 1/100 of this

Of course Altona isn't going to take this through to full production but perhaps it gives an indication of what a fair value sell price might be after BFS

Sp extremely cheap, as CEO states the share price is not going to stay here long and will rise substantially as we prove up the resource and BFS, when compared to other similar coal companies in Australia.

Tide here has turned, seller now eventually looks to be out. Expect this to now move back up to rns levels, where this should be after the superb news.

I think you're right NewKid, although until the drilling has been done you never really know what's under the ground
Perhaps Altona and the JV partners have got other plans for the rest of the cash?
