His own words... "growing at an incredible rate"

supplying 4 butcheries AND 2 satellite butcheries hoping to role out AT LEAST another 4 next year in various areas of the country, great demand coming in from foreign investment side, huge staff all need feeding.

enormous cooperation from the government with the president of the country visiting the abattoir

Into profit in the 'very near' future 18.5 million in cash....

all looking good to me

Yes I am looking forward to finding out about the presentation, I would imagine it may create quite a bit of interest. I'm sure this is, as you say 'under the radar' although I note quite a few are starting to get into the African Agri businesses, has to be where the future growth will come from, oil creates wealth (and there seems to be more and more of it) and from that comes the insistance of a better standard of living which always means an increased sale in food, nothing like owning the whole supply chain and taking profit at each and every step!

Great news about the 5 shops and the local demand being so high.

Unfortunately I'm not going to make it, shame as it would have been worthwhile, not he link here though hxxp://www.johnsinvestmentchronicle.com/#

this is interesting:

Agriterra (2.25 and 1.5% of JIC). I attended a presentation last night given by Euan Kay, head of the Mozambique beef and maize operations, and Adrian Simpson founder and head of Tropical Farms, the Sierra Leone cocoa and palm oil operations. I found the evening informative and more importantly reassuring.

The key points:

Mozambique;

Its "field to fork" beef operations currently has 6200 head of cattle over 22,000 hectares with a target of 10,000 by 2015.

Agriterra's production is being sold locally through its five wholly owned butcher shops; exports may happen in the future but currently there is huge local demand. Mozambique imports 90% of its beef.

Revenue in year ending May 2013 more than doubled to $2.2m ($0.9m). Current run rate is $2.9m. Margins will improve as throughput in its owned EU standard abattoir increases.

-------------------------

I didn't know we now have 5 shops running! also being discussed on ii a question that will no doubt be answered in the presentation.

jimmy - lovely, never visited Scotland myself, would love to take some time out and visit the West of Scotland. I am planning to watch Billy Connollys World Tour of Scotland this weekend, mainly to watch the scenery. I guess you are some millionaire recluse?:)

I see we have another African Agri stock in CRV. Dont own any and not really looking to buy, but it does show the investor interest in African Agriculture. It reminds me of some years ago when every stock was turning itself into a gold exploration stock and rushing into that.

I see this as a good sign, be good to have a few more options on AIM and also increase the general exposure. I believe AGTA is best placed out of any of these stocks for growth, my only concern is the political issues in Moz currently which will probably continue until elections are finished next year. Pretty sure Moz wants peace, prosperity and jobs....that will not happen unless they have a stable environment. IMHO.

Agribusiness does have its risks - weather, disease, global demand/supply for produce, political, foreign exchange etc. It has long gestation periods, capital intensive to start with and also ongoing labour issues to contend with.

This is a medium to long term play on the growth of Africa and an increasing demand for agri-produce worldwide. Patience (in spades) is key and I will look to add on the dips. My other holding in this sector is OBT - better positioned for short term revenues, IMHO.

emmm
ive been so battered by this one.
in fact buying at what looks like a bargin to NAV has in the past not worked.
HOWEVER
we do have a growth story here.
still disappointed to not see the maize making more money.
The political situation there has certainly i hope got a bit of money on the side lines.........
i believe (and hope) Mozambique has come too far to slip back to civil unrest.
They really need to get this out to more funds, lets hope some are at the presentation.

looking seriously undervalued:

Number of shares in issue: 1,061,818,478
Restated NAV (from results) $60 million = £37,585,977

NAV share price = £0.03539

Current Bid = £0.023

I see a serious rerating due here, and I also note we have not had the usual load of AT trades shoot through today when the bid ticked up to 2.3, I guess todays results and the forthcoming presentations are teaching a few traders that now is not the time to be selling.
